I hug my mom. I can't believe she's willing to do this for us, knowing that Bain will probably be pissed. "Thank you, Mom."

"Just please call me when you get there." She kisses my cheek before pulling away.

The doorbell rings, and she pulls away to open the door. Beau stands on the other side, smiling when he sees me with my packed bags. Mom moves to the side to let him in, and he comes straight to me.

"Hey, baby. I see you got the memo." He looks at my bags again.

"Uh, yeah, like just now." I chuckle. "Mom already had my bags packed when I walked through the door."

"She thought I was kicking her out of the house," my mom says to Beau with a smirk.

"I told you I wanted to take you away for a week." Beau lifts my big suitcase and heads for the door.

"Yeah, but you could have given me a heads up onwhen we were leaving," I scoff.

"My bad." Beau grins and then turns to my mother. "Thank you, Lacey.

I appreciate all your help with this."

"Just make sure you look after my baby," Mom says and pulls Beau in for a hug.

"You know I will." He glances back at me before walking out the door.

"Well, I guess I will see you when I get back," I tell my mom. "We still have a lot of work to do before the wedding."

"You don't need to worry about that, honey. Just enjoy yourself and be safe." She hugs me and then practically shoves me out the door.

I wave at her from the car while Beau takes my small luggage bag from me and places it in the trunk. My mind is reeling with everything going on, and I'm not sure what to make of it. I'm excited to be going away with Beau, but on the other hand, this is an important time for my mother, and she may need me. The fact that she's doing this for us says a lot.

Getting in the car, I look at Beau as he takes his place behind the wheel. "So, where are we going?"

His dimpled grin shines back at me. "You will find out when we get there."

"Have I ever told you that I hate surprises?" I sit back grumpily.

His hand moves to my thigh as he pulls out of the driveway. "I guess I will have to make it up to you once we get there."

Ugh! I hate that he can turn me to mush with just a few choice words and have me forgive him when he doesn't deserve it. I don't really care where we are going, though. Just the thought of spending a whole week with Beau has me giddy.

Our plane lands in Sunny Florida. I was surprised that we were flying anywhere at all. I assumed Beau would drive us to a remote location, but excitement took over when he pulled into the airport parking garage. I haven't flown since before my dad passed away, so flying alone had my blood pumping, never mind the thought of getting Beau all to myself.

"I can't believe you did this." I rest my head against the passenger seat of our rental. "This is insane. You know that, right?"

Beau only shrugs. "Why is it insane? I wanted to take my girl away and not be disturbed. Flying somewhere over a thousand miles away would grant us that."

"You haven't told me what your father has said about all this," I say as I stare at his profile.

"Because there is nothing to tell. I still haven't spoken with my father about it. When I tried, he held his hand up and continued walking. He's been pretty busy with meetings and work, trying to take care of loose ends before the wedding. Besides, he's been more worried about sucking up to your mom." He glances at me, smirking.

"I wish he could just accept it like my mom is."

"You have to understand how Bain Huntley works, Ryan. Good impressions are what my father strives for. If someone were to hear how his son is fucking his stepdaughter, it wouldn't go over too well with him." Beau sighs.

"Are you saying that he will never be okay with us?" I question.

"Maybe, maybe not, but I don't care right now. I want us to enjoy ourselves, and once the wedding is over will we deal with my father." He brings my hand to his lips as he speeds down the highway toward our destination.

We make small talk until he pulls into a private drive and parks the car in front of a beautiful beach house. It's a gorgeous two-story house with a wraparound porch and floor-to-ceiling windows all along one side of the house. I look over at Beau and laugh.
