The tic in his jaw returned and his fingers flexed in the material of her dress along her back.

“She’s wrong, Juniper. Money has nothing to do with it. Paper means shit to me.”

“But doesn’t it? She’s right, Marshall. You can’t argue with numbers. Or society, ya know. You two are cut from the same fabric. There’s no denying that and the fact that if you married her, her working relationship within her father’s company would go a long way in helping you.” She hated her own words, but she couldn’t lie to herself or him. It wasn’t too late, she supposed. It would save them both the embarrassment of announcing their split afterward too. After his company was secured. They’d left that little detail out of their special announcement.

“Kiss. Kiss. Kiss.” A chorus broke out and rolled through the intimate crowd.

Marshall glided them to a stop and the warmth of the fire pout caressed her bare legs. They stared out over the crowd as they chanted. Confused, she sought out the source of the commotion.

Callie pointed up with a cheeky grin and a wiggle of her brows.

Mistletoe. At a luau? She should have known her friend would have done her dirty like this.

She didn’t have time to think about whether they should or shouldn’t. Marshall took action and palmed her face as he claimed her lips beneath the mistletoe.

Her heart did a double-tap. Oh, man, the way his lips brushed against hers, the touch of his hands and the way his scent tingled her senses. All of it pulled and tugged at her heartstrings and the effect was pure magic.

A flash of light went off and Callie let out an ear-splitting whistle as Juniper opened her eyes to find everyone smiling and clapping.

She turned to Marshall. “I want to show you something, but it involves walking. You game?”

“Sounds enticing. Will I get to kiss you in some secret spot you have?"

“Maybe, if you're good," she teased.

"Then, by all means, lead the way, sweetheart.”

CHAPTER SIX

Marshall searched Juniper’s eyes for a clue or sign to how she felt. A jolt of electricity struck his heart and traveled south to his dick the second his lips touched hers and he needed to know if she felt it too.

Two weeks ago, he was hell-bent on keeping his single status, but Juniper’s sweet heart and kind ways shook something awake inside him.

He'd be a damn fool to ignore the way her body responded to his. A simple caress and she was hot and wet for him.

That he wouldn't ignore for the world.

From the moment he walked through those doors this evening he’d stepped out of the limelight as CEO and had been just Marshall. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt that way. No one wanted to shake his hand because of who he was or what he could do for them. Jaded maybe, but the ugly truth all the same. But the second she’d opened the door and he’d seen her standing there, a vision in red, his world changed. He knew right then fate had sealed them together. How did he get her to believe him? That he wanted a forever despite what he said back in his office about getting an annulment.

He cursed to himself. If only his father could see the mess he’d created with his ultimatum. His father’s power play might have brought Juniper to him, but it would also cost him her love in the end.

“Where are we going?”

“Here take a right on Palm Drive and then four blocks down take another right on Seashell Lane.”

He followed her directions and rolled to a stop in the parking spot she pointed out.

Before killing the motor, he reached across the seat and tipped her chin up so he could claim her lips. Something he wanted to do again as soon as possible. That and get her wrapped around his cock again.

Warm and soft. He took the kiss slowly, savoring the taste of her on his lips.

He flicked his tongue out and she opened for him. His hand dipped to her throat and he stroked a light touch over her pulse point. She gasped softly into his mouth.

A reaction he had come to love.

She was so damn addictive.

“What do you want to show me?” He sat back and stared at the uncertainty in her eyes. Whatever she was about to show him was close to her heart and personal and it touched him that she felt the need to share it.
