I was the first off the field, the first to shower, and the first to change.
“Dude, what’s the rush?” Jarod asked from his locker.
“Haven’t you heard? He and what’s her name are a thing now.” Luke added.
It was still new. How the hell did they already know?
“Fuck! Man, that girl is going to be the end of your career.” Jaarod slammed his locker shut. “She fucks with your head. Are you sure you want to do this?”
Am I sure? Absolutely. I’ve waited too damn long for this.
“Don’t worry. She knows how important football is to me. She’d never do anything to fuck it up for me.” I’d never been more sure of anything in my life.
“Ooh! Somebody’s in love. Meghan abs Chase sittin’ in a tree. F-u-c-k-I-n-g.” Adam taunted.
Love.
Hell yeah!
I needed to tell her that.
She already knew, but I hadn’t used that word. Not yet.

My Ed Sheehan playlist streamed through my car’s speakers. Every song reminded me of my girl. Perfect, Shivers, Shape of You, every lyric described Meghan and me.
I’ll make her shiver as soon as I walk into the room.

I had plans. We could stay in bed all fucking day.

Or so I thought.
“Ugh.” Herbal, earthy tones met my nose.
I’d smelled that shit before.

Once when I was hunting with my cousin on the east coast of Florida. One of the dogs had bothered a skunk. That shit was disgusting.
The second time, Maxwell was removed the team for smoking a bowl in the locker room after a game. Not telling coach about the smoke was a risk I wasn’t willing to take.
Drugs are a big no-no in my world.
Some college dipshit must have been toking on their balcony nearby.
Never in a million years did I expect to find Meghan with a puff of smoke coming out of her mouth. Those lips that I couldn’t stop thinking about all day wrapped around a pipe.
“What the fuck are you doing?” I wasn’t a yeller. That was all I’d been doing lately.
She quickly put the pipe behind her back.
