Grabbing a linzer cookie from the tray on the counter, I popped it into my mouth and groaned.

“I’m gonna have to double my workouts now that I’m with you.”

She’d been testing recipes the entire week leading up to this open house, finalizing her menu and I’d been her willing taste tester.

“You know, you could just eat one.”

I grabbed another cookie.

“Not possible.”

Her throaty chuckle made me smile. She makes me smile.

I never thought I’d fall for someone in this way, never mind so fast. But once I laid eyes on Chloe I knew she was the one. So why fight it?

“I’ll triple my workouts if I have to. It’ll be worth it to eat your cookies.”

I bobbed my eyebrows as I spoke that last sentence and Chloe laughed at my double ententre. Never one to be bested, she stepped closer and dragged her finger along my chest.

“You can eat my cookies anytime you want as long as you promise to let me lick the batter.”

I threw my head back and laughed, the booming sound drawing the attention of the people surrounding us.

“I absolutely love you.”

She smiled up at me.

“I absolutely love you, too.”

Ignoring the room full of people, I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her in for a celebratory kiss.
