“Yeah, I would love to come. Let’s go,” I agreed, picking up my jacket.

In the club, I felt like a tinned sardine. It was so busy. I could feel my chest begin to tighten; I was not used to being out. I hated crowds. I headed towards the back of the room away from the bars and dance floor. I was glad I’d stopped drinking before we left the party to come here. I could feel the alcohol beginning to wear off, certain that was why I’d begun to struggle with the crowds so much.

At the back of the room, I was approached by a guy I’d never spoken to before. He seemed familiar though. “Hey, what’s your name, gorgeous?” he shouted in my ear and placed his hand on my back. Shivers ran down my spine as the warmth from his hand spread across my body.

“Hey, I’m Cassie. Have we met before?” I answered him, staring into his deep blue eyes.

“I was at the swim club party.” His eyes sparkled in the lights of the club. I felt a pull towards him. I wanted to give him a chance, and I’d never given anyone a chance like this before.

My palms began to sweat as I clenched them into fists. “Did I catch your eye in a good way?” I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth. I took in the rest of him other than his eyes, which had captured my attention until now. He had broad-muscled shoulders. His blue shirt was a skinny fit, showing off his delectable muscles.

“Yes, in a good way. Do you like cheesy lines? If you do, I would ask you if it hurt?” He winked and grinned at me. I couldn’t help but notice his teeth. I didn’t think I’d seen such straight ones before. Why was I looking at his teeth? It was weird, but if I made eye contact with him again, I would probably lose my ability to think properly.

“Uh, I don’t mind cheesy lines,” I told him honestly. I didn’t like them, but I found them funny, and guys always told me they wanted to be thought of as funny. He raised his eyebrow to prompt me to answer his second question. “Sorry, did what hurt?”

He leaned in closer to my ear. Feeling his breath down my neck, I couldn’t help pressing my body into his. “When you fell from heaven because you look like an angel.”

I sniggered. Predictable. “No, if it hurt that much, I’d be covered in bruises.”

“I like that response, very original.” His hand slid up the zip on the back of my dress to cradle the nape of my head. He pressed his lips against mine softly, the slight stubble on his chin scratching against mine.

I ran my hand up his arms into his spiked blonde hair and held him in place, deepening our kiss. I slipped my tongue along his lips and begged for entrance. It had been so long since I last felt like this with a man. My heart thumped against my ribs. I didn’t want this to stop. I had only just met him and I could see myself getting to know him very well before the end of the night.

I pulled back from him, tugging on his lip with my teeth. I could hear the breathlessness and desperation in my voice when I spoke. “Do you want to get out of here and continue this in private?”

His pupils widened and I lost sight of his deep blue eyes as they turned into black pools of desire. “Yes. We can go to my place, it’s only a ten-minute walk from here.”

“That sounds perfect. Let me grab my stuff and I’ll meet you at the exit in two minutes,” I instructed him, desperate to leave the club and go home with him. Adrenaline coursed through my body. Sure, I’d had sex before but never a one-night stand, and never like this. He could be anyone. He’d said he had seen me at the party, but he could be anyone; a friend, a family member, a swimmer in another squad. What were the chances I would see him again after tonight?

I couldn’t believe how receptive she had been to me. I still hadn’t given her my usual talk, hinting this was to be a one-night thing. She was just Libby or Claire’s friend, so I doubted I would see her ever again, as they weren’t the most outgoing people at the best of times. She was the perfect hook-up for me tonight. My mouth began to water thinking about the curves of her body I could see with her dress on. I wondered what differences I would see outside in the moonlight, and then again in my bedroom once that tight green fabric was exactly where it belonged—on my floor.

Reaching the exit of the poorly lit club, I scanned the room to find her. I hoped she wouldn’t be long because even the ten-minute walk was going to be a painful wait for me to get my hands on her body. She was hot, and she knew exactly what to do with it in every possible sense. Even when I’d seen her back at the party, the way she stood oozed confidence, that was only amplified when she started talking and pressing her body into mine. She fit perfectly against me, which was a rarity considering my tallness.

Her confidence as she strutted across the room seemed to overwhelm everything in the room. I was hypnotised by the way her body moved towards me. Her hips had my full attention and I couldn’t bring myself to watch another part of her.

Once she reached me, I managed to snap my attention away from her hips and waist up to her sparkling green eyes and pink lips. I pulled her tightly against me and pressed my lips against hers. She moulded into me, licking along my lips, begging me to allow her entrance. I wasn’t ready to let this go any further here. I wanted to get her back to my place as soon as possible.

I pulled back from her. “Cassie, let’s get out of here.” This wasn’t my usual tactic. I normally teased until they begged to come back with me, but she seemed different than the others. I couldn’t work out why though.

She didn’t speak, only nodded and grabbed hold of my hand to drag me outside. She appeared to be as keen as I was. I couldn’t get her back to my place quick enough. I wouldn’t even be bothered if I didn’t fuck this girl, it was out of character to even consider it.

Walking with her hand in hand felt natural. What was happening to me? I didn’t have girlfriends, only fuck buddies.

I was comfortable in the silence, but she spoke up. “So, what do you do? Why were you at a swimming event?”

I didn’t normally let the women I took home know details about my life. I wanted to be seen as a piece of meat for the night and nothing more. I wanted to be used for their pleasure and never be contacted again. “I’m a swimmer, that’s why I was there. Most of my time is taken up with training, but I do have a part-time job at the gym too.”

“That’s great. Do you like the job?” She smiled, keeping the focus on me. I was curious to find out more about her but would answer her questions first. I had the feeling that I needed to let her get this out of the way; maybe it was the nerves making her quiz me.

“It’s not terrible, pays the bills, you know. Definitely not a career for me though, too much cleaning. You’ll soon understand what I mean when you see my place,” I joked with her, forgetting we didn’t know each other well at all.

I watched her eyes widen in what I assumed to be a combination of fear and concern. “I’m joking, honey. Don’t panic, my flat is clean. Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you worry.”

She plastered a smile back on her face. The streetlamps shining on her face emphasised her sharp cheekbones and her soft jaw. “Cass, I’m sorry.” I stopped walking and turned to face her, using my hold on her hand to pull her to face me.
