Before I could continue, I heard steps outside the door, followed closely by a concerned sounding man. “Have you seen Cass? She said she would meet me at the car and she’s not there yet.”

I could hear the muffled voice of the receptionist replying quietly. “I’ve not seen her Mr. Hughes, but will go and ask if anyone has seen her. I suggest you wait near your car, maybe call her.”

Sniggering, I couldn’t help but wonder if these people realised that she was an adult. Clearly, she had the same thought as she mumbled, “I wonder if they know I’m a twenty-five year old adult. Sounds like they’re talking about a lost child out there.”

“From what your dad said, he still thinks of you as his little girl. I wouldn’t be too stressed. We should probably find a way to get you out of this cupboard without being noticed,” I told her while busy running through plans A to Z in my head.

“I have a plan… Open the door and walk out.” She raised an eyebrow at me.

“We might be seen though.”

She giggled. “We won’t. Did you not listen to them?”

I scowled at her. Her confidence oozed around us, but I couldn’t work out why she was so willing to just walk out of the room into the lion's den. “I did listen, but they will be just outside the door.”

Rolling her eyes, she explained, “The receptionist is going to ask around, and my dad is going to the car. If we’re quick, no one will be there.”

“Damn… beautiful and smart,” I mumbled as I pulled the door open to check if the coast was clear. “You were right. Quick. Go before anyone comes back.”

She made her way past me. As she walked through the door, I patted her pert arse. “See you later. Can’t wait to do this again.”

Pivoting to face me as she made her way across the lobby, she called out, “Not happening again, Tyler Anderson,” before turning away and leaving.

Standing in the reception area, I watched her climbing into the car and driving away with her dad. She may not think that this was going to happen again, but I had other plans. I’d had my first and second taste of her, and I wasn’t intending to give that up anytime soon. Cassie Hughes was special, and I wasn’t dumb enough to let her get away.

My trance was broken by the receptionist reappearing. “Hi Tyler. Did Mr. Hughes find his daughter?”

“He did. They’ve gone now. Thank you for helping him,” I told her politely.

“Of course, that’s my job. Anyway, I’d better get back and I’m certain your shift starts soon, too.”

Checking the time on my phone, I realised how right she was. I had two minutes until I started. So much for the nap I hoped to have. “Yes, thank you.” I sped away to the staff room to change into my uniform ready to start.

My shift was only a few hours long, and mostly involved cleaning. My mind drifted to Cass and I wondered if we could make it work. If we could come up with a mutually beneficial agreement and not allow her father to find out what was happening between us…

-Two Months Later-

The time had come. Today was the competition which decided the national team. Cass had been over at my house until ten last night but had to go home so her dad didn’t ask too many questions.

She was travelling with her dad and leaving very early so he could be there before any of the swimmers arrived. That meant she needed to make sure to go home to pack, ready to leave first thing.

I felt quite nervous while heading out to meet Reece. I was in peak condition, hitting new best times in my target events even in training, but my nerves still bubbled below the surface. If I kept that up today, I should be in the starting team for nationals. I was targeting backcrawl and butterfly: my top two strokes.

“Hey, are you ready for today?” Reece asked as I threw my bag into the back seat of his car and climbed in beside him.

“Yeah, are you?”

“I am. You happy that your girlfriend will be there to support you?” he teased me.

I rolled my eyes. “She’s not my girlfriend. Cassie is another swimmer there to compete for her own space on the national team. Nothing else.”

Hearing his exasperation in his sigh, I turned to look out of the window. “Fine, your ‘not girlfriend’. She’s all but, though.”

“We’ve not had the conversation yet, plus imagine having to tell her dad.” I shuddered at the thought.

“Just remember, all things come out eventually. He will find out.” I nodded, knowing he was right. I mean, the man said so himself.
