She winks at me, and I grin, bending down to brush my nose across her cheek. “I’m up for that, as long as you wear the same. Although, the only name I want on your back is mine.” I growl and she lets out this adorable squeal before giggling against my mouth.

I deepen the kiss, lightly pushing her back against the covers so I can feel her legs wrap around my hips.

Her heel digs into my ass as my tongue swipes against hers.

I could take her all over again, right now, but I bought her a gift, too, and I’m dying to give it to her.

“Stay here,” I whisper, jumping back from the bed. “I won’t be a sec.”

She gives me a mystified smile as I sneak out of the room… and of course bump into Ethan, who’s in the living area wearing a bright red pair of Christmas boxers. There’s a huge gold bow covering his bulge, and I stutter to a stop and point.

“Christmas present?”

“You know it.” He crosses his big arms across his chest and narrows his eyes at me. “Have a good night?”

I can do nothing but give him my best smile.

He snickers and shakes his head before pointing at me. “Christmas present?”

Holding out the bottom of the jersey, I nod. “Sakic. Thanks for that.”

“She was determined to get you the perfect gift.” He lifts his chin toward Rachel’s bedroom door.

“Hence the reason you’re not that shocked to find me sneaking out of her room this morning?”

“Something like that.” The smile on Ethan’s face has a hint of mystery that I’ll have to find out later, because right now, Rachel’s waiting for me.

I turn to grab her gift from my room, then pause and swivel back to check in with my best friend. “Hey, uh… you’re cool with us hooking up, right? I know you told me not to because if everything fell apart, it’d get awkward, but?—”

“There was no way you could ever resist her. Yeah, I get it.” He brushes a hand through the air. “I’ve been watching you too. Or at least seeing how much happier you’ve been lately. I’m not gonna stand in your way, bro.” His shoulder hitches. “Just don’t break her heart.”

“Not planning on it.” I grin at him, and he ends up snickering because he knows I’m not the type to ever treat a woman badly.

“Merry Christmas, man.”

“Merry Christmas.” I practically laugh the words, this giddy sensation bouncing through me as I pick up Rachel’s gift and carry it back to her room. Nerves clatter through me when I face the same predicament she just did—have I gotten the perfect gift?

Her eyes light when she sees the neatly wrapped parcel. It’s so obviously a book, but she doesn’t seem disappointed by it as she holds out her hands and wiggles her fingers in the air.

“I can’t believe you got me something.”

“Why?” I plunk down beside her.

“I don’t know.” She shrugs, then laughs at herself.

Tucking her hair behind her ear, I smile at her. “You bought me something.”

“That’s because I have a massive crush on you.”

“Ditto.” I nudge my nose into her cheek, enjoying her soft giggle.

She turns to smile at me, holding my chin and wrinkling her nose. “Last night made that abundantly clear.”

“And all the kissing leading up to last night didn’t?”

She laughs and shakes her head. “Well, yeah, kinda. But I know you hockey boys have a rep, and for all I know, you kiss girls all the time.”

“Casey and Ash sleep with girls all the time, but that’s not my style. I save it up for someone really special.” Brushing those long locks over her shoulder, I kiss the skin I’ve just exposed. “A girl like you.”
