Minx.

I licked my lips before I met her eyes boldly, letting her know exactly what I was thinking.

“As I’ve said to you before, when you’re in my realm, you’ll do as I say.”

She stopped right in front of me, and I couldn’t help myself. I closed the space so I was looming, a fraction of an inch away from her. She smelled like lavender today…citrus, too. It made my mouth water. She looked up at me with an almost defiant tilt to her face, her chin jutting, lips quirking.

I knew she was thinking about her dream, wondering if I remembered how I’d punished her. I wanted to keep her guessing, but something sparked in her eyes and her cheeks flushed to a pretty pink.

“Am I in for more punishment today?” She held my stare, and her pupils dilated. She bit down, tiny fangs poking into the cushion of her plush bottom lip.

My knees went weak. I wanted to fall on top of her, ravage her with my mouth, my hands. Every part of my body screamed to touch her.

She sucked in a shallow breath, her body so close that I could almost feel the press of her tits to my chest.

“You got off easy.” My voice grumbled like a freight train. My cock strained against my shorts. “And I’m not done with you. Not even close.”

Her heart ramped up. I could hear it like thunder in my ears. She nodded, acceptance mixed with excitement? Hard to tell. She could be biding her time before ripping my throat out.

“We’ve tried this your way. We’ve slowed things down. We’ve given you time. It’s not working, and you can’t seem to stop yourself from being reckless.”

She opened her mouth like she was actually going to argue with me. Her lips formed an O. What would she say? It was one mistake? One time?

“It was one too many, and it won’t happen again,” I said.

She clamped her mouth shut. Her eyes blazed, widened like she had a lot to say but was biting her tongue. I knew she liked to argue back. I knew my brothers wouldn’t mind that. In fact, I knew they’d let her get away with a lot. Indulged her. Encouraged the sass.

That wasn’t my way.

My brothers had made headway with her. She’d let them in while she’d kept me out. Maybe it was because I’d been so brutal with her, but someone had to be. And she knows it.

I reached up and snaked my fingers into her ponytail, tangled myself in her thick hair. “You’ll do as I say, no argument.”

She blinked hard, her lips parted, small pants exploding from her lungs. Sweat beaded along her throat. It was hot out here, the sun scorching already, a rare heat wave to hit Vancouver. It was a fucking blessing on skin like Charlie’s. I watched a trickle of moisture move along her chest, meandering in ways that I wanted to.

“Kane,” she whispered, wincing when I wrenched her head to the side.

I lowered my mouth to the heat of her skin, inhaling her scent, letting it play along my tongue.

She swayed closer, her body brushing against mine, but she kept her hands at her side, seeming to await my commands.

“I know you’ve been with my brothers. I know you’ve let them touch you…taste you.” I ran my lips with a whispered kiss along the trail of dampness. Goosebumps raised along her throat. Her pulse pounded below the surface. My mouth ached, fangs ready to punch through. The only time a male could partially transform was for the mating bite, and I felt the pressure of that need like a volcano ready to go off. She swallowed, hard, her muscles straining as I kept her head at an angle. “I will have you, Charlotte.”

She shivered. I held her there, breathed in her desire. Her mind might have been torn, unsure of what move to make, but her body wasn’t.

I let her go, giving her the space to stagger back in time for Levi to make it to the top of the hill.

“Sorry, I’m late. I was reading up on a few things. Checking my notes.” He stopped abruptly, taking us both in. My heaving chest, clenched fists, my failure to calm myself back to normal. Charlie, her face flushed, moved a few steps back as she lifted her fingers to her throat, tracing the exact path my lips had taken moments before.

“All okay here?” Levi was worried I was still mad at Charlie. It was clear on his face—the furrowed brows, the nervous twitch of his cheek. He was a powerhouse in his own rite, but he knew how I could get when I was pissed, and he certainly wouldn’t know the difference between passion and anger when he saw it…where I was concerned, anyway.

“Charlie and I were just getting on the same page again.” I turned my back to both of them, using the move to take in some deep breaths as I walked toward the middle of the field. “We’ll start with some drills to warm up.”

Johnny was late, as usual.

Charlie groaned.

I shot her a glare that cut her sound off abruptly.
