I didn’t know what he meant. He wanted me to hug my inner beast?

“We’ll help.” Kane moved in next, running ghostly fingers along my throat. “You have to accept her into you.”

Johnny’s wolf brushed against my hip, his fur tickling my skin. I met his molten eyes and saw encouragement shining there.

I can do this.

I focused on my beast and reached my hands out, arms spread wide. “Come to me,” I said, feeling foolish. From my fingers came more threads, anchoring to her, locking into place.

Her head swiveled, her eyes green, menacing. Murder staring back at me.

“Don’t make me force you,” I growled.

Ghostly hands landed on my shoulders—Kane, Levi on either side. The brush of Johnny’s shadow fur nudged my hip, bolstering me…standing with me.

My beast turned, facing off.

I wouldn’t ask her again.

With a firm tug, I drew her toward me now that she was cooperating. When she broke through the shadows, I saw what the others had already seen. She was huge, bulging muscles making her monstrous. Fur covered every appendage, marking her as a beast. Her snout was long, fangs gleaming, eyes sharp, hard, cunning, green and coherent. My eyes staring back at me. A mirror image full of humanity.

I stepped forward, my legs shaking. She did the same. For every step I took, so did she. When she was close enough, I reached up, dragging my fingers over her jaw to her fangs. She did the same, moving her gnarled hand along my cheek, my lips. I knew I was finally looking at myself, seeing my beast in all her glory.

I was enthralled.

Her fur was glistening, dark, highlighted by the colored threads encircling her. I ran my palm along her collar, and she in turn did the same. She was powerful. She had pent-up aggression that was undeniable but also a desire to be understood that was so vivid to me that I couldn’t understand how I’d never felt it before.

I want to be understood. Accepted.

I stepped closer, slipped my arms around her waist—or tried to, anyway—and she did the same, wrapping me up with a tenderness that was both familiar and foreign at the same time.

Kane, Levi and Johnny moved around us, circling, forever circling, and I knew my web, the threads that bound me to these shadow men, were wrapping around my beast and me, connecting us back together—pulling so tight that there was nowhere to go but within.

I closed my eyes and let myself fall.

Chapter Nine

You were there to catch me. Three pairs of arms. A basket of muscle and sinew to cradle my body.

Smoldering lust came like a torrent. The aggression of my beast coursing through every vein, every nerve, every breath and every drop of my blood.

She was me and I was her, and that meant the primal urges that came with my beast side pulsed with intention.

I inhaled your mingled scents, a mix of clove, forest, game, spice, that tickled my throat and teased my senses.

My eyes adjusted in the swirling shadows, reveling in my enhanced sight now that my beast and I were melded.

You, Johnny, grinned like the wily wolf you were, but behind your smile I saw uncertainty.

You, Levi, brushed tender fingers along my cheek and infused in your touch was concern.

You, Kane, tilted my chin, exposed my throat, gripped my neck, then leaned close and claimed my lips. I knew that your actions weren’t hiding anything. You were all about possession.

Desire shot through my body, every erogenous zone on fire.

I shivered then moaned against your lips. You swallowed my noises like you were starved for everything I had.

I was lost to your lips, to the hands that caressed my thigh and coaxed my legs open. To the fingers that toyed with my nipples. To the trail of kisses that wound around my breasts, then down my stomach. To the touch of wet, hot heat against my pussy.
