She ignored him and continued to stare at Rabiya. “Can you show them the cash bag so they can find it?”

“He cut through that thing five minutes after he got away,” Kasim added, sounding all arrogant and condescending.

Taking the high road, Charla again ignored the man. He’d taken one look at the hot pink streaks in her hair and heard her southern accent and pegged her as a dumb, hillbilly with an eye for the finer things in life. He had it wrong, but it wasn’t her job to correct his mistaken assumptions. “Thank you Rabi. I’ll let you know when I’m out.”

“I know, because I’ll be back later.”

She flashed a smile and winked at her friend. “Fine. Leave the beast at home, though.” It was hard work to avoid the hulking man in the corner, even though she was pretty sure his cut physique didn’t qualify him as someone who hulks. But somehow she’d done it. Which was good because she had no plans to have anything to do with Kasim or men like him.

They were trouble.

And Charla didn’t do trouble.

Not anymore, at least.
