“Maybe I’m just giving you the final chance to move out of my way,” I said. Truth is, I wasn’t sure Andrei would be pleased with me attacking Camilla, especially if she was the woman he talked about that morning. But lord, the thought that she was the woman who had Andrei’s heart made me burn.

“This is not your home…whore, and I’m not moving out of your way.” She threw the hair running down her shoulders back. “If you really want to pass, then I’m afraid you’ll have to crawl.”

From the looks of it, Camilla was really here for trouble, and I was damned if I did and damned if I didn’t. “I think you missed one more thing.”

She narrowed her fiery gaze at me.

“The part where I push you out of my way.” Before Camilla understood what I’d just said, I held her by the wrist and dragged her to the other side of the kitchen, then walked away.

My eyes were pinning, and I felt nauseous. My lungs felt like they were running out of air as well. I resolved to take a stroll by the pool, hoping it would calm my nerves.

I’d barely made it outside when I heard Camilla screaming curses at me. “Fucking whore, I’m gonna beat the shit out of you!” She yelled a lot more curses that I chose to ignore and continues to the pool, hastening my steps so she wouldn’t catch up with me.

Some women were straight up crazy, and Andrei’s possible love for her aside, I wasn’t sure I was in the mental or physical place to put up with any sort of craziness. Not today at the very least.

Mikhail had left New York with Andrei, Dimitri, and Isidor had gone out for a game and wouldn’t be back before night rolled around. I needed them here now and I was sure they wouldn’t hesitate to come deal with their brother’s distasteful woman, but I didn’t even have a phone to call them with.

I hated that I didn’t have a phone. I’d have to ask Andrei to get me one the moment he returned to New York. It’s possible he had many more characterless women in his life, and I wouldn’t want to deal with more of them.

The pool area was as cool as I’d expected it to be. Chilled air touched my skin as I walked behind it and swept a chunk of my hair out of my face. How come I hadn’t thought of coming here before?

“Wench!” I heard Camilla’s voice before I knew she was behind me. I turned around, my vision doubling and my stomach was churning terribly. Stupid nausea.

“Say that again,” Camilla roared in front of me. “Say you’ll cut off my tongue one more time.”

It was useless repeating it because even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t be able to make out what was her tongue and what wasn’t because the world had doubled in my eyes. I’d also probably throw up at the sight of blood in her mouth.

“Not so brave now, are you?” she asked as she fisted my hair and pulled me to her body. I was dizzy and sick, but I wasn’t too weak to let a bitch like her throw me around. I grabbed her own hair.

“Let go of me, bitch!” she roared. “Fucking let me go.”

“Why should I?” I kicked her knees and she fell on them to the ground, her grasp on my hair still so tight it made my scalp throb.

Camilla pushed me to the ground, causing our grip on each other to loosen. She climbed on top of me and raised her hand to slap me, but I caught it midway and pushed her off.

“Let’s not do this. You won’t win against me anyway.” My vision was spiraling and I didn’t know how long I could keep this up. We both stood from the ground.

“You should’ve been bound to one of those older fuckers’ beds now with their smelly balls in your mouth,” she sneered. She looked crazy with her long dark hair covering half her face. “Bitches like you are indeed hard to kill.”

My hands formed into angry balls at my side. “It was you who told them?” Why didn’t I think of that? Very few people knew I was Andrei’s prisoner, and those people were limited to Andrei’s brothers, a few of his men, Maria, and Camilla.

Camilla was the most likely to do something so stupid.

“You almost got Andrei killed.”

She rolled her eyes. “The only reason he would’ve died was because he had a dumb bitch like you leeching off him. Refusing to die.” She started towards me. “I’m going to do him the favor of killing you.”

“Don’t.”

I don’t feel so good!

Camilla wrapped her hand around my neck and started choking the air out of my lungs, pushing me towards the pool.

I was weak, really weak. I managed to grab her hair again and push her away and she fell to the ground.

My eyes threatened to shut on their own and I struggled to keep them open, my legs felt weak, and my stomach aggressive. I clutched my stomach, kicking the air as I ambled away from the pool. Away from her because I could feel my consciousness leaving me.

Soft hands grabbed my waist from behind. I wanted to yell for her to stop but I couldn’t. With a force, my body crashed into the water. It felt cold on my skin as it swallowed me. My arms were weak and hard to raise, but I tried to float.
