“Mother will have to accept whatever we want or miss out. This isn’t about her, but what we want. If you want a wedding on Rage, that’s what we’ll have,” Grey stated with a grin.

I had no doubt he was looking forward to upsetting his stuffy mother.

“Well, you have to propose yet,” I drawled.

Grey sent me a smug smile. He knew full I was angling to find out when he planned to propose, and he had no intention of telling me. With a mock glower aimed in his direction, I picked my chop sticks back up and grilled him on what he’d sorted with Hawthorne.

The prospect on the gates gave him a warning glare as he walked through them. Grey ignored him and headed for the clubhouse. He’d spoken to Axel two days ago and made an appointment to meet Willow’s dad. His visit wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

As he entered the clubhouse, his gaze was drawn to the mountain of a man who was Willow’s father.

Despite his accident and shooting, Axel was as big as ever, all muscle and dark threat.

Axel sent him a dour stare, but the woman at his side smiled merrily at him.

“Hey, Grey,” Ellen greeted as she cuddled one of the million babies Rage had.

“Hi, Ellen, Axel,” Grey said.

“What you want?” Axel boomed, his glower settled firmly on Grey.

Grey decided most men would flee in this situation. Axel was all threat, and it wasn’t a false one. The giant of Rage would easily put a bullet between his eyes.

“A word in private,” Grey asked.

“Why?” Axel demanded, folding his arms across his broad chest.

Ellen elbowed Axel, and he glared down at her, but his face quickly softened after taking her in.

“Go talk to the boy,” she chided.

Grey hid his laugh at being called a boy, however it didn’t stop Axel’s dark gaze from descending back on him.

“Fine, but if he says something I don’t like, I’m reserving the right to break him in two,” Axel snapped and got to his feet. He lent on the crutches he was forced to use as his leg was paralysed from the shooting. Grey understood Axel’s paralysis would never wear off. Axel was permanently disabled, but it didn’t stop him from riding.

Rage had built him a custom-made trike so their founder could still ride with them. That was the type of men Rage were.

He followed Axel to the elevator and then down a hall to his office. The plaque said Chaplin in large letters.

Axel lumbered behind his desk and sat glowering.

“I was given an ultimatum a few days ago. The Bureau discovered Willow and I are dating. They said one of us had to move or end our relationship,” Grey stated.

Axel paled slightly beneath his tan.

“If you’re here to tell me that I’m about to lose my baby girl—” Axel began bellowing.

Grey held his hand up. “Willow was never in danger of losing RC. They wanted me to change departments. Our boss, Markin, says Willow will go far in the Bureau. The only options open to me are over twenty hours away,” Grey said.

Axel looked strangely happy. “And the problem is? Because neither of you two told me you’re dating.”

“I love her, Axel. Man to man, Willow’s my everything. Ain’t leaving her to take a job twenty fucking hours away where we only get to see each other once or twice a year,” Grey retorted.

“Well, boy, you kept your relationship fuckin’ quiet, even from family. If you want sympathy, you aren’t finding it here.”

“Axel, you’re not a fool. You knew we were dating; we just never confirmed it. If our relationship leaked at any time over the last eight years, Willow and I would still be in this situation.”
