Grey scowled. The prick was right.

“Which is why both of us will take him on board,” Axel finally murmured, all fight seemingly gone.

“Huh?” Drake asked, not willing to make this easy.

“For Willow. Everything asshole here does puts my girl first. And he and Willow have covered for Rage a few times. And Grey does so because to harm Rage would hurt Willow, and he won’t allow that. Look at him. Fuckin’ sap, his entire world is my daughter,” Axel pointed out.

Grey didn’t enjoy being called that, but he wasn’t going to deny being totally in love with Willow.

“And your point is?” Grey replied.

“And the guy doesn’t even care,” Axel boomed, shaking his head. “I don’t like you because you’re a suit. You’ll still be a suit with Hawthorne. But I gotta respect a man who will put my girl first and break his back doing so. And to quit a job he loves? That means something in my world. You got my permission to marry her, boy. But you ever harm her, I’ll burn you alive after breaking every bone in your body.”

“I respect that. If I hurt Willow, you’ll have to get in line behind me.” Grey meant that. Willow had no reason to fear him. He’d prefer to die.

“Don’t mean I’m going to back you for Rage. That’s Drake’s choice.”

Grey noticed how disgruntled Drake looked at having the decision forced upon him.

“I’ll wear a cut. I’d rather it be Rages, but if not, it will be someone’s,” Grey swore.

Drake searched his face. Grey noted his body language was relaxed despite appearing torn. The bastard was playing with him.

Grey chilled out. No way would Rage allow Willow to become an old lady in a different MC. Simply because they all loved her to bits. But also because that would give another MC a link to Rage they didn’t want. Rage would pick their own allies, not have them forced on them.

Grey noted the moment that Drake realised Grey had guessed that.

“Cocky fucker,” Drake muttered as confidence rose in Grey.

“Am I wrong?” Grey asked.

“No. You’ll need a second to nominate you. Grey, you’ll do two years as a prospect, like a legacy. And your skills? They’ll be ours now. We say do it and it’s illegal, I do not give a shit, you do it. Rage owns you.”

“Nope. Willow owns me, and if you ask me something that would put her job and career at risk, feel free to kick me. Other than that, I don’t give a fuck.”

Drake lifted an eyebrow and then nodded. No way would any of his brothers endanger their old lady, and he expected that. Grey’s recognition and prioritisation of Willow were commendable.

“Let’s discuss your surrender and when I get me some grandbabies,” Axel boomed, offering Grey a stare full of mirth.

Grey groaned. It was common knowledge Axel and Ellen were baby mad. And now he was in Axel’s crosshairs.

Drake laughed and walked out, leaving Grey to Axel’s mercy, or lack of!

Willow

I curled up on Dad’s couch as he lumbered around, sending me dire stares. Or what was supposed to be hostile glares. I sipped my coffee calmly as he puffed himself up.

“Did you say yes to Grey?”

Dad paused and sent me an inquiring look.

“For my hand in marriage and to join Rage.”

“He told you?” Axel boomed, surprised.

Even Ellen sat up straight. Of course, Dad had informed her.

“No. I know him. He thought he was being sneaky in approaching you, but Grey would never ask me to marry him without your approval. And you wouldn’t say no because it would upset me. And I think it was a natural conclusion Grey would ask to join Rage. Rage, at the end of the day, is about protecting the community, and that’s Grey’s personality.
