“They won’t know.” She turned the key, and it locked the door with a firm click. “It will be our own little secret.”
Barry’s gaze became pensive for a second as if he was thinking about it. Then he shook his head. “Nah.”
Those few seconds of hesitation were all Xolani needed. Grinning, she prowled toward him. “I bet I can convince you to.”
His gaze became wary, and he took a step back. “I bet you can’t.”
Xolani’s grin widened. “Is that a dare?”
If he wanted her to chase him, then she would chase him to the ends of the earth. She would chase him forever if that was what he wanted. She might not be his wife yet, but she thought of him as her life partner. There was no one else she wanted to spend all her days and nights with. And she knew that he felt the same way.
When she finally cornered him against the bedpost, she whispered against his lips, “I love you.”
His answer came fast and without hesitation. “I love you too.”
He meant it. So did she.
He was her future and her forever. And she knew that she was his too.
