Capris gone, Jinx wrapped a leg around him, and Logan lifted her and set her butt on the kitchen table. He drew her legs up, hooking them over his now-bare shoulders, and proceeded to lick and suck her pretty pussy until she screamed out her orgasm.

His trousers down around his ankles, he was more than ready to plunge into her. Jinx snatched his wallet from his jacket that lay half on the table next to them and found a condom. Logan was so out of his mind that he would have forgotten. He had never done that before. Had always pitied guys who lost control like that. But Jinx was a whole new ballgame for him, one where he could not even figure out the rules.

As soon as she covered him and leaned back on her elbows, he dove in, sinking his cock deep into her folds. Jinx made those sweet cooing sounds as he moved inside her, slowly at first. As he felt her core clenching him, milking him, a need he could not deny took over and he slammed into her again and again.

“Logan,” she mewed, and that was it for him. Last night amid all the moaning and screaming, she had not once called his name. Hearing it now on her lips did him in and he murmured her name in her ear as he poured everything he had into her.

After they caught their breath, coming down from what might be the most amazing climax he’d ever had, Logan sat in a kitchen chair and pulled her onto his lap and held her, never wanting to let go.

It was not that she minded the hard kitchen table or knocking over the sugar bowl, it was more about Jinx wanting to have Logan in her own bed. To fulfill the fantasy she’d had since she was fourteen of her brother’s hot and handsome buddy, who’d been sleeping only a few doors away, secretly entering her room and climbing into her bed and making love to her.

No matter how many other guys she had dated, that fantasy of Logan coming to her room in the middle of the night had remained her favorite for years, even into her twenties after he and her brother had become enemies.

Knowing she was supposed to be loyal to her family, she had tried to give up her dream of having Logan not only come to her, but also tell her he’d always loved her. And she had almost succeeded. Except she could not stop herself from comparing every man she got involved with to Logan—always finding something missing. Even the times when she had actually believed she might be in love with a guy.

Tonight, after several rounds of lovemaking in her bed, Logan fell asleep in her arms. Jinx had been dozing on and off and awoke when she heard Anthia come in some time after two. Her room was on the other end of the hall, but Jinx was still glad she’d had the house to herself during the rather expressive sex she and Logan had indulged in.

Now, as he lay with his head on her chest, his arm and leg draped over her, she could not resist gently stroking his hair and planting a kiss on his forehead.

Logan’s eyes blinked open. He looked confused for a second, as if he could not tell where he was, but then a small smile formed on his magnificent face.

His hand reached up and cupped her cheek. He lifted himself off her and brushed his lips over hers, then rolled to his back next to her. “Is Anthia going to be okay if I’m here in the morning?”

“She’ll be fine,” Jinx said. “Just lock the bathroom door behind you, and don’t go downstairs until you put your clothes on.”

“Reasonable requests.” He looked at the clock on her nightstand. “Almost three. This was the hour you used to sneak down to the kitchen for peanut butter snacks.”

“You knew that? And I thought I was so good at being quiet.”

“You? Quiet? I think your neighbors three doors down must have heard your last orgasm tonight.”

She gave him a playful swat. “Remember that time, back when I was sixteen and we ran into each other in the wee hours and made PB&Js? Was that…?”

“No accident. I’ve always been a light sleeper. You had burgeoned into this outrageously beautiful woman and I’d heard you say something to Natalie about your baby doll nighties.” By the soft nightlight in her room she could see him wiggle his eyebrows. “Boy, that had me going. I was obsessed with getting a glimpse of you in them. It was tough because I would never consider making a move on Vic’s kid sister, but it didn’t mean I couldn’t look and carry the sight of you back to bed with me.”

“Little did you know I was back in my room thinking about you, wishing you were there in my bed.”

“Naughty little girl,” he said with a quiet chuckle.

“Logan, what happened between you and Vic? He would never talk about it to the family. All he would say was that you betrayed him and that you were not the person you pretend to be.”

Logan shook his head. “I never betrayed your brother, but as you can see by this scar I still wear”—he pointed to a raised white line on his cheekbone—“Vic didn’t want to believe anything I had to say.”

Her fingers gently touched the scar. “I kept hoping you would show up at my parents’ house and tell your side of the story and everything would get straightened out. But instead you disappeared, so the only version my family heard was my brother’s. I thought you and I had a…special kind of bond. I mean, we had plans for when I was going to be living in Philadelphia while you and Vic were at Wharton and then…” She stopped herself.

How could she tell him he’d broken her heart without revealing she’d been in love with him?

Am I still?

“Jinx, your brother made it clear he would make me pay if I ever went near you or anyone in his family. I had no idea how far he would go, but I still cared about him and everyone in your family, so why would I want to put him to that test? And you were all so close to each other, why would I think there was a chance any of you would take my side?”

“Even me?”

Logan’s face took on an adoring look. “Maybe you, Jinx, but you were the baby that no one listened to. And what kind of person would I be to ask you to choose between me and your family?” He sighed, staring at the ceiling. “You know I have a history that makes me wary of trusting. In fact, what Victor did to me was almost an uncanny repeat of what my dad did. As the years went by, I realized it was probably your brother’s braggadocio and confident personality that was so like my father’s that drew me to him in the first place. I was not the most worldly kid when I met your brother as a freshman in college, so he became like a father figure slash big brother to me.”

“Tell me about it,” Jinx said. “My domineering brother has always been the star of the family. Handsome and smart. ‘Son’ with a capital S. My father’s pride and joy. Vic’s success in the financial world is a big feather in the cap of my auto mechanic father. Plus, my sister took after my mother, and I, well, I’m the misfit of the family.”

Logan pulled her into his arms. “Maybe that is one reason we fit together.”
