“Drugged,” Reign added, narrowing his eyes. “Probably fucked within an inch of your life too. You haveno ideahow depraved he is, no idea.”

I frowned, my mouth drying at his words.

“No, he let me go—”

“Yes, he did,” Reign said slowly, almost like he was addressing a child. “But what did he do to you, Elizabeth?”

I shook my head, staring down at the floor. “Nothing! I was tied to the bed when I woke up, but then he played the videos...I blacked out a few times...then he took me home.”

Reign’s eyes blazed. “And?”

I gritted my teeth together, frowning as I rubbed my arms, which were covered in goosebumps.

Nothing happened.

“As I said, nothing happened, Reign. He’s a dick, but he didn’t—”

“Oh, he would have,” Reign interrupted me with a sad look. “You just don’t remember.”

Dread swept over me as I blinked, trying desperately to remember that night.

“But I remember the videos! How would I not remember anything else?”

Reign groaned, smacking the side of his head with frustration.

“Fucking hell, Elizabeth!”

I bit back tears as Reign continued.

“He’ll have used you. You’ll have been his toy.”

I was numb, convinced he was wrong.

“I’d know,” I argued, crossing my arms. “He didn’t—”

“There will be a video of you too, you know,” Reign said gently, all anger gone from his voice. “I know him, Elizabeth. He was fixated with you, with us.”

Reign slumped into a chair, his head dropping into his hands. “I should’ve told you. I should’ve told you everything.”

The pain in his voice cut through me, and before I knew it, I was on my knees before him, my hands wrapping around his as he closed his eyes.

“So tell me. Tell me now, and I’ll listen. I swear, I’ll listen.”

My voice choked with emotion; the fear that he would push me away, send me away—that he would leave, made my teeth chatter.

“But will you believe me, Elizabeth?”

The doubt in his voice made me ache deep inside — I hated myself for doubting him.

“I doubted you because of the videos and the voice recordings, but I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, and if you want to leave, I understand.” I swallowed the lump in my throat, my face contorting into an ugly cry. “I don’t deserve you.”

Reign said nothing, but he looked at me, at least.

“Tye didn’t mean it; he was worried after seeing me….”

“Don’t apologise for Tye, Elizabeth. Apologise for yourself.”

“I’m sorry!” I sobbed, bringing his hands to my lips. “I don’t expect you to forgive me, but—”
