I was on him in seconds, and my grip around his throat cut off his air supply as his eyes glinted beneath me.

“Do it.”

Icoulddo it—kill him right now without a second thought. Then, Elizabeth would never have to see him again, and no other girls would be hurt.

“Lizzie loved it.”

I closed my eyes, moving my knee to his throat as I tugged my phone out. It took seconds to dial the number, but I could barely breathe as I muttered the address.

“What are you doing!” AJ rasped, his eyes bulging beneath my knee.

“Calling the police,” I said calmly, pressing down on his chest and throat. “I’m not serving time for you.”

AJ came alive then, battling me with brute strength as I pinned him down, my body weight on his.

“I’ll delete hers! Just get the fuck out of my house!” AJ yelled, but I refused to look at him.

In my mind, I was saving those girls downstairs. I was ending this.

“I loved watching her die, you know.” AJ snarled from beneath me, his face beet red.

Don’t listen to him.

“I wanted to kill Lizzie too, but it would’ve been too messy. People saw us leave together. Well, her in my arms, anyway.”

Don’t kill him.

“Shut the fuck up!” I roared, staring down at him. “You sick fuck!”

“I killed her while you came in her throat.” AJ choked on his laughter, and my head reeled. “You pathetic bastard.”

I’m so sorry, Alannah.

“She trustedyou, not me.”

AJ’s words spilt into the darkest recesses of my mind, and I knew what I’d got to do. I dialled the same number I called moments earlier.

“What are you telling me? Thatyoukilled her?” I bark, releasing the pressure on his neck so he can speak clearly. “You killed Alannah?”

AJ’s lips curled into a smirk, splitting from the beating I’d given them.

“I killed them all.”

“No, it was an accident. What happened to Alannah was an accident!” I closed my eyes, refusing to budge an inch as the responder listened on the other end of my phone. At least, I hoped they were.

“No, it was a beautiful incident. One I planned.”

There was a sound from downstairs, and AJ lunged for me, knocking me off balance as I heard footsteps pounding on the stairs.

“Police!”

AJ ran headfirst to the window, throwing himself out before I could scramble to my feet.

Officers entered the room from the two doorways, commanding me to put my hands up.

“Hands up where I can see them!” One ordered, forcing me to my knees.

“He’s outside,” I said with a growl, placing my hands on my head. “AJ West, he’s the guy you’re looking for.”
