Brandon gaped at me, his eyes wide.

“You’re not staying with this fucking pervert!”

I couldn’t believe his audacity.

Tye remained calm, but I noticed his fingers stretch and close a few times, making me nervous.

“Brandon, I’m leaving you. I’ll come back for my things, but there isn’t anything to discuss. I can’t do this right now.”

Tears that had been threatening to fall for the past ten minutes fell, and Brandon rolled his eyes, shoving past Tye.

“You’ve got a fucking nerve, Lizzie!”

“Hey,” Tye whispered, cupping my head in his hands as he stroked my tears away. “I’ll take you back to mine; I’ve got a spare room. You can stay as long as you like.”

I nodded gratefully.

“Will you stay with me?” I whispered, resting my head against his chest.

Tye stilled, his lips drifting over my forehead as he stroked my back. He made me feel comforted without saying anything.

“If you want me to, of course.”

I nodded, allowing him to guide me through the darkened corridors and out of a side door into the night.

I didn’t notice someone watching us, let alone the scowl on the face of said watcher.

I was drained, and I just wanted to sleep.

A spare room, Tye had said.

I stared at the house before me, aware that my mouth was hanging open.

It was fucking beautiful.

I counted eight windows, and that was just what I could see. Charred red brick complimented the ivy that grew up its walls, and the trees surrounding it made it feel protected from the world.

Tye glanced at me, swinging his car keys around his fingers lazily.

“Come on.”

He held his hand out, and we walked forward in comfortable silence.

Inside, it was breathtaking, all cream walls and scrubbed wooden floors. I could see every room from my position, but immediately, my eyes honed in on the roll-top bath and, beyond it, a bed that took up an entire wall.

I moved towards it, blinking in disbelief. Was it a bed? It looked like one, but it faced a plasma TV and was beside floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked a lush green garden.

Back to the bed.

It had ten pillows—I counted them.

“Wow.” I breathed, taking it all in.

“We do have bedrooms, too,” Tye murmured in my ear, his arms wrapping around my waist from behind.
