Waking up in Tye's arms soothed my fraught brain before it began overthinking. His rhythmic breathing reassured me, and I wondered why Zeus wasn’t head over heels in love with him.
Part of me always would be.
My body ached from my time with Alexander's, and I winced, wriggling out of Tye’s arms.
“Where are you going?” Tye mumbled, rubbing his eyes sleepily.
He looked like a Norse God with his pale hair and stunning features.
His fingers caught mine, and I forced a smile I didn’t feel.
“I just need to use the bathroom.”
Tye nodded, leaning back onto the sofa. “I’ll make some coffee, then we’ll talk.”
It wasn't a question. I took care of my business and stared at my wrists, still marked from the ties Alexander had used.
Alexander.
What did you expect, Lizzie?
My knees trembled, and I gripped the sink, my head whirring with thoughts as I remembered what Alexander had told me.
“Lizzie? You good?” Tye rumbled from outside the door.
“Yeah, sorry. I’m coming.”
I heard Tye move away from the door and vowed to tell him everything, no matter how hard it was.
Outside, Tye was lounging in a double seater, his arm curving out to welcome me when I walked out.
He nodded to the table, but his eyes didn't move from mine.
“Coffee. With sugar.”
For shock,I thought but said nothing. The coffee was scalding, but I sipped it regardless.
"So I went to confront Alexander. I quit. Then he..." I took a deep breath and continued. "He asked me to clear my office out, so I did."
Tye didn't press for more information. He nodded, stroking my back as though waiting for me to talk.
There was more silence, but the blood rushing in my ears could be blocking any sound. I stared into the woods beside us, absorbing the solitude and sounds that come with nature.
