He was hiding, waiting for me to make a move. He might be planning to ambush me. I hoped like hell he was. I hoped he thought he could get the upper hand, because tonight with adrenaline pumping through me, there was no way in hell he was going to come out on top in any way at all.

I didn’t think he actually wanted to win, but he would enjoy the fight and so would I.

I moved silently, going farther into the woods. Every few steps I stopped to listen, hoping he’d make a move. He rarely made mistakes though. That’s how he’d survived in the SEALs as long as he had.

The wind moved through the trees, leaves rustled, but there was no other sound except for insects humming. It would be easy to assume there was no one out here.

“Carter? You plan to stay hidden all night?”

There was no response. I hadn’t expected one.

“I bet your dick is hard as a rock waiting for me to catch you. Don’t you dare get off until I’ve found you or your punishment will be so much worse.”

Still nothing. Did he have to be as good at this game as me?

If he wasn’t, would you want him as much?

No.

I kept moving, eventually spotting an area where there were indentations in the leaf matter. They weren’t distinct, but I knew they were footprints. When they abruptly disappeared, I studied the area.

Where had he gone?

I didn’t hear anything specific or see any movement, but something tickled the back of my neck. He was close by.

I drew in a deep breath. I could smell him. I would know the scent of him anywhere: warmth, sunshine, home. I wanted to bury myself in that scent. And I would.

I studied everything around me. Just as I realized I had made a rookie mistake by not looking up, Carter jumped down, knocking me to the ground, then taking off again.

I jumped to my feet and chased after him. I nearly caught up to him before he vaulted over a limb and eluded me. I was so close I could taste him on my tongue. He kept going, pushing himself. He could run for a long time at this pace, but so could I.

I needed him distracted. I pulled my gun from my waistband and shot into the air. “What the fuck?” he yelled.

“You’re my prey. Did you think I wouldn’t shoot you?”

He sped up, and so did I. I fired again, the bullet going into the ground by his feet.

He looked back, and that was a mistake.

He stumbled on a root. I grabbed his foot as he fell, yanking it out from under him so he smacked down flat on the ground.

“That’s more like it. You’re mine now.” He would always be mine.

The way he gasped for breath told me he’d knocked the wind out of himself. The time it took him to recover was all I needed. I shoved his legs apart, gripping his thighs. I wanted to rip his jeans off and push into him right away, but it would be so much sweeter if I waited. He didn’t deserve to get off that fast.

He started to push himself up, but I held my gun to the back of his head. “Stay put. I like my prey helpless.”

“No, you fucking don’t.” His words were strangled. He was still recovering from being slammed to the ground. He was also right.

“Are you going to fight me?”

“Always.”

I knew that was true, and I loved it. “Good, but right now you’re going to turn over. Slowly.”

I raised up enough to let him do as I ordered. Then I sank back down against him, allowing myself one slow roll of my hips as I pressed my hard cock against his.

His eyes were huge, his breathing ragged. I smiled when I realized he was just as hungry as I was. “God, you’re so hard for this. Put your arms over your head.”
