This woman is delusional.

“You gave up those rights when you lied to me,” I tell her. “Now let’s sign these.”

I grab the pen, scrawling on all the places that have my name marked with sticky tabs, then I turn the papers toward her and lay the pen down. “Your turn.”

Her eyes look glassy, like she may start to cry.

And the Oscar goes to…

“I wondered if you might even consider another proposal,” her voice is so soft I can barely hear her.

I glance up.

“You and me.”

“You and me?” I frown. “Keira, there is no you and me.”

“I know how to do things the way you like them. We could still have that. I still haven’t lost the urge to fuck you, Gray, despite everything.”

My mouth falls open. “Are you for fucking real right now?” I shake my head.

“Are you really going to truly let me go? Or are we going to keep changing the terms, never getting to the part where we are actually divorced?”

I take a long, steadying breath. “Keira. The papers are signed. I want this. And the only reason this is still dragging on is because you are the one who keeps changing things. So sign them and let’s move on.”

She bites her lip in an attempt to what? Seduce me? I want to laugh.

“We could fuck, one last time for old times’ sakes? Nobody would have to know. It could be our little secret.”

She. Did. Not.

I want to roar in this woman’s face that she’s delusional. That I wouldn’t fuck her if she was the last woman on earth and mankind was counting on us to repopulate the world. Not that she’d want kids even then.

My shoulders start to shake. We haven’t even ordered yet, and I know for a fact I’m not eating tonight. She can go take a running jump off a short pier.

“That is not happening.”

Her frown deepens. “Gray. Don’t play coy like this. I’ll let you do whatever you want. We both know you like it rough.”

“I also like my woman loyal and dependable. The last thing I need is you throwing me a pity fuck.”

“Is there someone else?”

“No,” I lie. “But there’s the dream of someone else. Someone who is the exact opposite of you. If you’re not going to sign, I’m done here. This wasn’t about you being remorseful or even remotely sorry. You want my dick because the dick you’re getting clearly isn’t doing it for you. You should’ve thought about that before you chose to do what you did.”

Her mouth falls open. “Gray! That isn’t what this is about…”

I smirk. “No? Give me one good reason why you think you’d deserve to have me back in your life, or your bed.”

She’s like a goldfish. Her mouth opening, then closing. “Because we fit together, Gray. We love each other, deep down.”

I snort. “You have a very distorted idea of what love is if you think that is actually true. You never came here to sign, did you?” I shake my head. “It’s fine. I’ll see you in court. I’m done with this.”

“Gray!” She grabs onto my wrist as I go to stand. “Don’t leave like this, I’m begging you!”

“Stop it, you’re making a scene and embarrassing yourself.”

“I’ll sign, I will…”
