We pull up in Bessy late in the day when everyone has gone home and we’re free to have a look around. The house is near completion. We both stand in front of the two-story oak and cedar style cabin in awe. It has a porch that wraps around the entire length of the bottom floor.

I get goosebumps every time I’m here because it’s so beautiful and the land is so peaceful.

Gray wraps an arm around me and hugs me to his side.

“Can you believe we made it this far.” He smiles down at me and I lean into his side, resting my head on his chest.

“It’s amazing, Gray. You’ve done so well.”

“We,” he says, squeezing me a little tighter. “You’ve been my rock through all of this, you knew my dream from the very beginning.”

“I love you,” I breathe, wrapping my free arm around his middle.

“I love you too, Hart.” He kisses me on the head. “And I’ll love it all the more when we’re moving in.”

I smile. “I can’t wait.”

He reaches down to kiss me as I wrap my arms around him and hold him tight.

“That’s not all,” he whispers into my neck.

I pull back a little to look up at him. “What’s not all?”

“I have a surprise this weekend.”

I giggle. “A surprise?”

“It’s our meet-aversary.”

“Our meet-aversary?”

“Yup, it’s been almost a year since the night we met in New York.”

I still get the same thrill thinking about it.

I waggle my eyebrows. “What are you planning for our meet-aversary?”

“Casa Cipriani,” he says with a grin. “We’re gonna do it all again baby, do you still have that sexy dress?”

“Somewhere in the back of my closet.”

“You’re gonna need it. And your grandma’s pearls.”

I laugh, nudging him. “You’re a sneak, do you know that?”

“I try my best,” he chuckles, nodding toward the house. “Let’s take a peek inside from the windows. I want to keep some surprises for when we get the keys.”

“Sounds good. In the meantime, you can tell me all about what you have planned for New York.”

He gives me a devilish grin, and I know exactly what he has in store for our meet-aversary.

A few days later

I’ve been feeling off for the past couple of weeks, but I did have a bad stomach flu last month so I put it down to that. Still, before we leave for New York, I take a couple of ginger calm tablets to try to settle my stomach for the trip. The last thing I want to be doing is feeling queasy on the flight, or on our sexy weekend at Casa Cipriani.

It’s only on the plane, while Gray is resting with his eyes closed, that I do a few calculations in my head because my cycle is also late. Since I’m fairly regular, I don’t think I can put that down to the remnants of my flu, and I’ve been feeling much better for the last two weeks. Just queasy in the morning…

No way. I shake my head. I mean, it’s not like I couldn’t be pregnant, our sex life is very full and active, but I’ve been on the pill for years. And I was too sick to have sex with him while I had the flu and taking antibiotics. But I know I’ve been feeling different lately. My breasts are a little more tender, and again, I’m late.
