Georgia’s eyes widen as he takes his cowboy hat off and says hello to everyone.

I’m guessing this is the first time she’s seen him without his long hair.

“Where’ve you been living, George? Under a rock,” I laugh at her reaction.

She places her hands on her hips with a warning look toward me as Hudson struts up, swiping a carrot stick from the large wooden board.

She smacks his hand. “GP, it’s not done yet!”

“Are you ever gonna stop calling me that, Blue belle?” He rolls his eyes at me and I smirk.

“Are you ever going to stop calling me that?”

He shrugs. “Nope.”

She glances up at his head. “Did you have a fight with a lawn mower?”

He brushes his hand over his freshly short-cut hair. “You can give up the charade and tell me you love it, Blue belle.”

She makes a face and goes back to chopping, muttering under her breath.

“Beer?” I ask Hudson, taking a swig of mine. Again, not my drink of choice but it’s wet and it’s cold.

“Don’t mind if I do. Cheers, bud.”

I walk over to the fridge and grab him a cold one.

“And I bought a bottle of sparkles for the ladies,” he says, giving Georgia a look and handing it to my mom, who gives him a hug.

“You’re such a sweetheart,” Mom says. “I’m so glad you could make it.”

“Don’t tell anyone that. It’ll ruin my reputation,” he whispers, but loud enough for everyone to hear.

Georgia rolls her eyes again and looks over at Gabe. “Aunt May’s bestie Dot has a granddaughter and she’s coming to town. I think she’s worked with kids before,” she says.

Gabe’s interest piques as he stares at my sister. “Who is she?”

“Her name’s Skye Hendry.”

“Hendry?” He frowns. “Related to Travis?”

“Bingo,” Georgia says. “Didn’t he used to be your best friend?”

He rubs his chin. “Yeah, before they moved away when he was a kid. We’ve been in touch recently. He never told me his sister was coming to town.”

It’s no secret that Travis is moving back to take over from Geraldine’s husband Hank, he’s retiring and Travis isthe new Sheriff.

Georgia shrugs. “Well, maybe she’ll be a great fit?”

“Not like I have many options,” Gabe grumbles.“What if Trinity doesn’t like her? What if she’s already gotten a job?”

She puts her hand on her hip. “I’m trying to help, you know. You’ve been grumbling for the past week about finding a new nanny, but you still haven’t put the word out.”

“I put an ad out the week before, if you must know. None of the applicants were suitable.”

Georgia gives him a withering look. “You’d say that about anyone, even those with a PHD in child education.”

He glances at his daughter, twirling around the living room and then running up to Dad for a cuddle after he takes his shot, missing the middle pocket.
