“You don’t…” I trail off, and he lets out a humorless laugh.
“It’s all that I want; you’re all that I want, but I won’t force you to do anything. I know that you’re not sold on this place or fated mates just yet so we don’t have to do anything.”

“I can take care of you.”
“What about you?” I ask, and he stares at me, trying to decide something.
I hold my breath, waiting to see what he’ll say.

The mating heatis at an all-time high now, a constant buzzing in my bloodstream, and I’m not sure that I can control my wolf for much longer.
I put the ball in Elle’s court earlier when I told her that it was the full moon and that what she was feeling was the mating heat. I’m determined not to do anything that she isn’t ready for, but I think I underestimated just how strong the mating heat lust would be.
My wolf is a caged beast inside of me, prowling back and forth, and I grit my teeth as he lunges to break out once again. He’s been trying that more and more since the sun started to set twenty minutes ago.
Calm the fuck down. If she doesn’t want us, then nothing is going to happen.

I want to tell him that she’s a human and that things work differently for them, but I know that it won’t make a difference. He’s too wrapped up in the mating bond.

I stop on the front porch. It’s like there’s some invisible tether holding me there. I don’t want to leave Elle, especially not with her attacker still out there. I would defend Elle to the death, but I can’t do that if I’m miles away in the forest.

I can’t though. I can barely think straight. All I can think about is biting Elle and making her mine. I want to strip her naked and find the source of that smell. I want to drown in her honey; I want to rub her juices all over myself.

My wolf licks his lips in agreement. He wants all of that too, and more, but we can’t have it. Not until she chooses it.
The door opens behind me, and I steel myself to keep my wolf and libido in check as I turn to face her.
She’s standing there barefoot in just a thin shirt and yoga pants. I frown at her bare feet, already turning red from the cold.
“You need to be inside. It’s too cold for you out here.”
“Are you coming back inside?” She asks, taking a step out into the snow.
“In a minute.”
She stares at me, her blue eyes wide and filled with some emotion that I can’t quite name. She’s staring at me like she wants me, but that’s probably just wishful thinking on my part.
