Isabelle’s voice pulled me back to reality, and I blinked up at her with bleary eyes.

“Oh, man. Are you super hungover?”

I nodded, my head thumping with every movement.

Isabelle slid into the chair opposite me. “You need to drink a lot of water. Like, really a lot.”

“I’m going to kill you and your bingo card. What happened last night? I can’t remember,” I confessed.

“My cousin got beat up pretty bad. He’s being a big baby about it,” Isabelle announced.

I sat up straighter. “I’m so sorry! What happened?”

“I don’t know for sure. He says he was hanging out with some girl and her boyfriend bust in and beat him up. I don’t know if that’s true. He won’t say who the guy was.”

Hazy flashes of last night danced in front of my eyes. Warner walking upstairs with me.

“I know a quiet place, no one will disturb you.”

“I think he helped me when I was feeling sick. He took me upstairs, maybe.” I squeezed my head like that might make the memories surface.

Isabelle took a deep drink of her latte, her eyes wide. “Then what?”

I shook my head. “I can’t remember.”

“Shit. It’s so horrible. He’s being uncharacteristically quiet about the whole thing, and Warner isn’t exactly a quiet kind of guy. Something happened, and he’s either embarrassed or scared.”

“Who would your cousin be scared of?” I took another glug of water.

“On this campus? I have no idea. Anyway, did you at least have fun? Dance and make out with someone?”

At Isabelle’s teasing words, a memory forced itself into my head. A strong hand in my hair, tilting my head back, lips moving over mine. A tongue pushing inside my mouth, and the feeling of a solid body pressing me into the couch. I clapped a hand over my lips.

“I think I did kiss someone,” I whispered.

Isabelle looked around and leaned in, matching my tone. “Is he here?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know! I can’t remember.”

“Then why are we whispering?”

I leaned back and chuckled, though the effort hurt my head. “Right. I don’t know.”

“Was it Beckett?”

Her words sank like rocks through my belly. “Why would you say that?”

“Because he carried you out of the party after you got too sick to walk.”

“He did?” Sure, I’d ended up in Beckett’s bed, but I had no idea how. For all I knew, I’d staggered back to the dorm myself.

Isabelle nodded. “It was kind of hot.”

I covered my burning cheeks with my chilled hands. “It couldn’t have been Beckett. He isn’t into me like that.”Is he?

Isabelle considered my words. “It must have been someone before you got sick, then. My cousin?”

Just the thought sent another wave of nausea through me. I shook my head. “Definitely not.”
