“My place, too? You want to change my furniture?” she asked back as she tugged on Chandler’s hand so they could leave the office.

“I was thinking it would be nice to maybe spruce things up a little. I mean, your shower curtain looks like it’s seen better days. The dishes also have a few chips in them, and the couch is–”

Belle pulled her quickly into the office and closed the door behind them.

“Belle!” Chandler laughed.

“Our place.”

“What?” Chandler asked as Belle pressed her up against the door.

“It’s not my place anymore. It’s our place now,” Belle replied.

Chandler’s smile was beautiful.

“It is, isn’t it?”

“And we can do whatever you want to it. I’m not really sentimental about furniture. Maybe we could get a case or something for our medals, though. They don’t have to be displayed or anything, but someplace nice to put them.”

“I like that idea a lot.” Chandler wrapped her arms around Belle’s neck.

“Wait. I’m, like, your boss now, aren’t I? Is this sexual harassment?” Belle took a half step back.

“No way. And we can just call your dad my boss, if that helps, but you’re not paying me, and I don’t expect any promotions, favoritism, or raises, so I think we’re okay.”

“Oh, you’re definitely going to be given some favoritism.” Belle kissed her on the lips. “Lots of favoritism.”

“Belle?”

“Yeah?”

“This is all I’ve ever wanted. I figured it out.”

“What do you mean?”

“You know how I wasn’t sure if I ever wanted to pursue skating or if my mom made me do it?”

“Yes.”

“I know now. I’ve only ever wanted to have a normal job, to find someone and fall in love, and to make a life with them. Skating is amazing, and I’ll always love it because it brought me to you, but I don’t think I ever even cared about winning a gold medal. I just didn’t know any better.”

“Now you do?”

Chandler nodded.

“Then, I think we should go furniture-shopping soon and make it our place so you can start having the life you’ve really always wanted.”

“I’d love that,” Chandler replied and kissed her again.

EPILOGUE

Chandler looked on as her wife of three years tried to teach toddlers how to ice skate. She couldn’t exactly call it figure skating because they spent more time on their butts than doing anything resembling a figure skating move, but it was adorable, and Belle was so patient with them.

“She’s good at this, huh?” Catalina asked as she sat down on the bleachers next to Chandler and passed her a bottle of water. “She’s going to make a great mom.”

“She is, isn’t she?” she said and opened her water. “Jack’s doing great out there.” Chandler pointed her index finger at her nephew, who was three and seemed to enjoy trying to move backward on his skates before falling on his butt and getting back up to do it again.

“Yeah, let’s call it that,” Catalina said with a little laugh. “I’m not making the same mistake Mom made with us with him. If he wants to skate, he can skate. If he wants nothing to do with it, that’s fine.”
