“It can be both. Happy?” Belle let the door close behind her.

Chandler turned to see Belle standing there.

“What are you doing?”

“Breathing in the smell of sugar. There is none of that at your house, and Cat stole the cookies I tried to get Antonia to buy for me.”

“I warned you about her. And you’re lecturing me about my sister, but you let her steal your cookies?”

“I’m technically your employee, Chandler. It’s different. Now, what kind do you want? I’m buying.”

“Uh… I don’t know. Plain.”

“Plain?” Belle walked up to the counter where an employee in a black hat was waiting in the otherwise empty shop.

“Yeah, plain. The least amount of sugar as possible. Do they have a sugar-free doughnut?”

Belle laughed and said, “She’d like to know if you have a sugar-free doughnut.”

The woman behind the counter looked at Chandler and said, “No, we don’t.”

“Sorry, Chandler. Out of luck.”

“You’re having too much fun with this,” Chandler said and crossed her arms over her chest.

“I’ll take a cinnamon and sugar, a cake, and the maple bacon, too.”

“You said one,” Chandler remarked.

“I lied. She’ll take a plain doughnut.”

“Raised or cake?”

“Chandler, do you want a raised or a cake doughnut?”

“Neither.”

“She’ll have one of each.”

“Belle!”

“You can eat half of one and half of the other. Calm down.” Belle turned back to the employee. “Can we also get two coffees?”

“Sure. Anything in them?”

“She’ll take a baby amount of coffee, and the rest is milk. I’ll take all coffee with one sugar.”

“You’re pushing it, Elrod,” Chandler said, glaring at Belle.

Belle winked at her as she turned back, and Chandler couldn’t hold her mock-glare. She ended up shaking her head and laughing a little.

“For here or to-go?”

“To-go,” Chandler said quickly.

“She means for here. Coffees in to-go cups, though. Thanks,” Belle said.

Belle paid, and Chandler stood off to the side while doughnuts were piled onto plates and coffees were poured into to-go cups.
