“Yeah, thanks,” Chandler said. “I need to talk to Belle now, so maybe later, okay?”

“A drink?” he asked.

“Dude, are you serious?” Belle asked. “I’m not hungry anymore. I’ll see you later.” Belle walked off.

“Belle!”

She turned around to see Chandler standing there in the concession stand line, looking at Belle like she was shocked she’d just leave her there.

“Later,” she repeated.

Belle sat in the stands off to the side and watched the rest of the skaters, wondering how she’d ended up back here with a crush on Chandler Wolfe, yet again, and Chandler acting like an asshole to her. When it was time for the final pairs’ scores, she watched as they scored well, but not well enough to overtake Belle and Chandler’s now third-place victory.

The medal ceremony at an invitational was quick and small. She met Chandler at the door to the ice, they walked out, waving with their fake smiles, and medals were placed around their necks. They waited for the other two pairs to receive their medals, waved, smiled some more, and walked off.

“Are you still hungry?” Chandler asked once they were in the car on the way back to the hotel.

“I’m going to order room service.”

“Belle, come on.”

“What?” she asked. “You’ve been weird for most of the day. It’s my turn now.”

“Just… Come to my room. We’ll order something and eat dinner together.”

“You don’t have a date with Griffin?”

“What? No. He told me he had his interview today and got the job. I said congratulations. Then, I found someone I could talk to while he stood there looking annoyed and eventually left me alone. I told you; I don’t like Griffin. I never did. He’s more Cat’s type than mine.”

“We’re here,” Belle said when the SUV pulled them up to the hotel lobby.

“Good. Dinner. My room. Tell me what you want. I’ll order it, and you can relax for a while. Shower or something, if you want. I’ll text you when it gets there.”

“Is that an order from my employer?”

“No, Belle. It’s a request from a friend who is trying to talk to you about what happened today.”

“I’ll shower and come over. Just get me a burger and fries.”

“Burger?”

“Yes, Chandler. Tonight, I want a damn burger. Actually, make it a cheeseburger with everything, fries, and a beer. Whatever they have is fine. Oh, and if they have ice cream, get me some dessert, too.”

“Ice cream?”

“Yes.”

“With chocolate syrup and whipped cream, too?”

“Yes,” Belle repeated.

“Fine. But I’m stealing a bite,” Chandler said.

“If you actually talk to me, I’ll split it with you.” Belle got out of the car, and while she didn’t want to wait for Chandler to join her in the elevator, she still held the door open for her when they got in and when they got out on their floor. “I’ll see you in a few minutes.”

“Okay,” Chandler replied and went into her room.

Belle showered and changed, and by the time she finished, she had a text telling her that their food was in Chandler’s room. She took a deep breath and walked down the hall.
