Martin glances at me, his icy-blue eyes filled with determination.

"This is it, Mr. Dexter. We've got them now."

“A part of me can’t believe it’s gotten to this. I know someone in this organization is working for my father, but what do I do with them even if we catch them?

“My father will never give up. He will just get another person. I am pretty sure that Emily, Keiffer, and Marissa all quit because they were the ones he targeted first, and they opted to quit than do us wrong. This person caved. There is a part of me that wants to show them compassion, knowing my father, but there is also a part of me that wants to feed his balls or tits to the wolfs.”

“There is no honor in cowardice. If someone asks you to do something you don’t stand for, you either take them on and fight or say no politely and walk away, but you don’t give them that power over you. You don’t cave,” Martin says, anger making his nose flare.

“Ok. Who goes first?”

“” I’ve had my suspicions about this for a little while. I will start there. Dr. Fields.”

“No. No fucking way. Not Dr. Fields. You are wrong.” I say, floored by what Martin is insinuating.

“One day, when this is all over, I will tell you how I knew.”

“Okay. Call him in.”

Martin calls Dr. Fields into my office, and we go through our usual pleasantries, then spend a few minutes analyzing the fake documents before handing them to Dr. Fields, our head of logistics.

"I need these delivered to the research team by tomorrow morning," I say, feigning urgency.

"Sure thing, sir," Dr. Fields replies, oblivious to the trap being set before him. He takes the papers and leaves the room with a brisk stride.

The devil must have High-Speed Internet, for it’s only been five days, and there it is—the leaked information splashed across every newspaper.

My heart races as I confront Dr. Fields, my anger boiling just beneath the surface, ready to explode.

"Why, Dr. Fields . . . How could you do this?" I seethe through gritted teeth.

"Me?" Dr. Fields exclaims, shock and disbelief painted on his face. "You think I leaked those documents?"

"This was a sting operation. We created it specifically to find the person who is leaking information to the press. You are the only person who had access to these blueprints," I retort, clenching my fists.

My temper reaches its breaking point, and without thinking, I hurl an ashtray at him. It strikes him in the temple, drawingblood that trickles down his cheek. "You've sabotaged my project!"

"Are you insane? I am not the only person who had access to these documents. You had access, and Martin too," Dr. Fields shouts, wiping away the blood with a furious swipe.

"Is that the best you've got, Fields? Counter accusations?" I spit, my voice dripping with contempt.

Dr. Fields trembles with fury, his face flushed red as he jabs a finger at me. "I am innocent, Liam! And when the truth comes out, there will be hell to pay for this!"

"Big words from such a small man," I taunt, trying to maintain my composure while feeling the heat of our proximity.

"Small? You have no idea who you're dealing with," he retorts, stepping closer, our faces a mere inch apart by now. I can feel the warmth of his breath against my skin due to our proximity, and I bite down the overwhelming urge to bite his nose off.

"You'll be hearing from my lawyer for wrongful termination and grievous bodily harm!" Dr. Fields explodes, eyes ablaze with what looks like thunder.

"Good luck with that," I sneer, watching as the rage builds behind his eyes.

"Mark my words, Liam. You will regret this." Dr. Fields retorts.

"Is that a threat? Get out," I growl through gritted teeth, "Before I make you regret ever setting foot in this building."

Dr. Fields stares into my eyes, searching for any sign of backing down, but all he finds is my unwavering determination to bring him down. With a huff, he turns on his heel and storms out of the room. As the door slams shut behind him, I lean against the table, my chest heaving with pent-up anger.

"Good riddance, you traitorous bastard," I mutter under my breath, struggling to reconcile the betrayal and the reverence I once felt for him.
