She’s insane. Absolutely insane. More insane than me.
“You’re a menace,” I whisper in astonishment. “Fuck… I’d make love to you all fucking night.”
She giggles at that.
“Only if you finish this so I don’t bleed to death.”
Oh, fuck, right.
“I really should get you to Arlo,” I grumble but think about it. “Or Arlo can come here.”
“You like Arlo more than… um, Kian, was it?” she inquires as she takes the knife and begins to do exactly what she agreed to accomplish.
“I don’t like females,” I announce.
She pauses in writing ‘Property’ to look at me.
“Aside from you.”
“Arlo and Kian are both men.”
“Kian’s a woman,” I mutter. “Well, was. She’s in transition to He.”
“You sound annoyed.”
“I respect his dedication and pronouns, but a part of my brain doesn’t like being touched by women.”
“So, I can’t touch you?” she ponders.
“Not…like that.” It’s hard to explain. “It’s complicated.”
“Understandable,” she concludes and returns to focusing on wrapping up the carved piece. When she’s done, she offers me the knife. “The final piece is yours for the carving.”
Looking at her calmness despite her pale complexion makes me wonder what madness she endured through her childhood to be fine and dandy with slicing her flesh with a blade.
“Were you ever suicidal?” I wonder.
“Once or twice,” she admits and shrugs. “If you’re intrigued as to why I’m taking this like a champ, Domino loved slicing my flesh for fun with his guys.”
Fuck.
“Aside from Domino, what’s the other’s names?” I’m already making a list. I take the handle of the knife and ready it to write the capital letters of our abbreviated title.
“Um… Mario, Andrew, Joseph, Eri… Wait a minute.” She stares at me just as I finish writing the final letter ‘C.’

“You’re going to hunt them down, aren’t you?”
“No,” I say, but I’m honestly not paying attention to that. I’m taking this moment to soak up this sensation of pride I have for this woman before me.
