We entered the common room, and everyone stopped talking, taking in Kasha’s fury and her packed bag on my shoulder. Raven glanced between us and met my eyes, raising an eyebrow. I shrugged and gave her a smirk.
Jeremy came forward and dropped a duffle bag full of ammo at my feet, clapping me on the shoulder affectionately.
“Cerenah said she grabbed these from the hotel room before she came here this morning. Figured you would want to take some with you, just in case.”
I grinned at him. “Thanks Pops. I’m gonna miss you.” I said honestly and he smiled at me but rolled his eyes.
“Yeah. I don’t know what you’re going to do without me around to save your dumbass every time you shift yourself into a coma.”
I snorted. “You clearly haven’t met my sister. She would knock my ass out of a coma so fast if she had to.”
“If she’s anything like you, then I believe it.” He said, and I turned to face Conrad.
“Hey - Obeah Man.” I barked, and he frowned at me.
“What?” He asked, sounding suspicious.
“Look out for her.” I said, nodding my head toward Raven, and his eyes softened.
“Yeah. Mi nah let nothin’ happen to har, nuh worry.” He replied, and then it was Raven’s turn to roll her eyes.
“Okay, you two ready?” She asked, and I nodded, stepping past Dossidian and Meredith.
“Biceps. Bandaids. Make sure you two fuck before I see you next. The sexual tension is getting out of control.”
Meredith’s mouth dropped open and Dossidian looked like I had just slapped him. I bit back a laugh. Their reactions were even better than I had hoped.
“Bandaids?” Meredith asked, bewildered, and Dossidian snapped his head to look at her as if to say, ‘That’s what you focused on?’
Raven turned to a very prickly Kasha.
“Hey, you coming?” She asked and Kasha glared at her. I buckled and gave in to the laugh I had been fighting off at the sight of Kasha’s angry little pout. Guess I wasn’t the only one on her shit list.
I smirked at Raven. “Welcome to the doghouse, Kitten. Hope you brought snacks.”
She flipped me off, though there was no bite to it. It was almost like she was just going through the motions. My laughter died at how sad she seemed.
“Come on, Kasha. I know you’re pissed but I don’t have all day. Get over here and let’s go.” She said, sounding tired. Without a word, Kasha stepped closer, though she refused to look at either of us.
“That’s my girl.” I purred, earning me another smouldering glare. Raven elbowed me in the gut.
“Shut up, Rycon.” She snapped, and then we were gone.

We manifested into the outskirts of Olkuyrbe and the scent of the rainforest made the panther that dwelled in my chest purr with pleasure. I shivered at the rub of fur on the inside of my skin, and I stretched, my flesh rolling beneath my restructium. Gods I fucken loved this place. This is where I truly belonged, and one day, I would come back here to play the role of Rhoan… After I was done saving the fucking world.
My grin faded as I glanced over at Kasha, who was sulking behind Raven and I as we made our way through the forest toward the thick wall of Kapok trees that bordered the Olkuyrbe settlement.
Based on how things were going, I somehow didn’t think Kasha would be willing to move here with me or have any interest in being my Rhiannon. I felt a growl stir in my chest at the realization. That was going to be a serious fucking problem.
‘If you’re trying to get her to like you, you should probably try to be nicer to her.’ Raven’s words played back through my head, and I tried not to outwardly scoff.
I had meant what I had said. I didn’t care if anyone liked me… normally. I tore my gaze away from Kasha and pushed forward, trying to ignore the creeping sense of anxiety that she may never accept that she was my mate.
I had torn apart Midasara to save her, killed hundreds of daemons to avenge her, and she still had told me that she hated me. The thing that was worrying me the most, was I could smell a lie a mile away, and in that moment, she had meant it.
Maybe Biceps had been right, and I shouldn’t have thrown her into the wall in front of everyone…
