“Then I’ll kill him.”

And he turns towards Leo, fire flaming out of his fingertips and streaking towards Leo.

“No!” I scream even as Lobo leaps in front of him. He yelps as the magic that would have killed Leo drives him to his belly, tearing him apart.

I growl and turn towards Faust. “That’s it, you bastard! I’ve had it with you and your stupid notions. Your stubborn ideas. I’m not yours, I never will be. Now, I’m not gonna play nice anymore!” I lift my hands and gather all the power I can, pooling all my resources until I feel it flowing out of every pore of my body.

“Now…good-bye, Faust!” Flames shoot out of my hands and I feel his body buck as my power slams into him.

He screams and writhes and I move closer, focusing every bit of my anger and pain and power on the slimy bastard until he disappears in a cloud of red smoke.

I drop to my knees and feel tears pushing out of my eyes as I close them, feel my entire body wilt in on itself.

Until Leo wraps his arms around me. “You’re okay, sweetheart. I’ve got you.”

CHAPTER 9

Leo

“Can you help Lobo, sweetheart? He looks a little under the weather.”

The Sheriff shifts until he’s sitting nude in front of us. “Dammit, Lobo! Clothes…again!”

He chuckles but winces when his chest lifts and his body shakes. “Damn, that hurts. Don’t make me laugh, man!”

He struggles to his feet and I step in front of Trinity, hiding her eyes.

She laughs. “How am I going to help him when I can’t see him?”

“Oh, I say, nonplussed. “I don’t know.”

“I’m alright,” Lobo huffs, tugging his ripped shirt over his broad chest.

“Let’s just go,” I say. “I’m sure the big guy will be alright. He’s tough.”

Lobo glares at me. “Remind me to arrest you for something. Soon.”

Trinity giggles and uncovers her eyes. “Leo. I’ve seen naked people before. Hell, I’ve been naked people before. The full moon makes us all a little crazy!”

My eyes widen and now my damn dick is in on the whole thing, unable to think about anything but a bare, naked Trinity dancing under a full moon with the silver moonlight shimmering on her ivory skin.

Lobo stalks out ahead of us. “Come on, you two. Time to go.”

He grunts and grimaces but he keeps moving and I follow behind him, keeping Trinity between us.

We manage to get above-ground with no further issues except the occasional bare glimpse of Lobo’s ass that makes me want to scream like a girl or shove Trinity behind me.

“I’ve got to get back. Are you two good?”

“Yeah,” I say, nodding at Trinity. “I think we should go to my house. It’s pretty close. We can all get cleaned up.”

Lobo shakes his head. “Nope. I’m gonna need a good, hot shower and a drink or two to recoup from this shit. You guys go on alone.”

I have a feeling that there’s more to it than that and I think it has to do with the loneliness I feel swirling around him right now. The pain wherever he thinks about his own love.

“Okay. See you later.” I say and I grasp Trinity’s hand, leading her to the path that I know leads down to my home.

She smiles at me. “Why do I feel like you’ve got an ulterior motive, Leo?”
