“You’re right, I did.” I set down the plates and unbuttoned my shirt to toss it aside with her dress before sitting down. “Seems only fair that I play too, right?”

“You won’t hear any complaints from me.”

The sounds that came out of her as she worked her way through the dinner were downright sinful.

“Are there going to be leftovers?” she asked. “I want to eat this for the rest of my life.”

“I made double portions just in case.”

“Ugh, why are you such an angel?”

“Born that way,” I replied with a grin.

When she had finished that round, it was time for the cake. Black Forest was one of my favorites, though it was fairly labor-intensive so I didn’t do it very often. Luna was eyeing the chocolate, cherry, and cream confection like she had never eaten in her life.

She stood slowly while I sliced us two pieces and set them on the dessert plates. I held my breath as she tugged off her panties and let them drop to her ankles.

“Close your mouth, cowboy,” she said with a quiet laugh. “I want to eat actual dessert before I become the dessert.”

I snapped my lips together. “Yes, ma’am.”

I hastily kicked off my socks, leaving my pants for now, if only to disguise how embarrassingly turned on I was.

Luna consumed the cake with as much delight as she had everything else. “Is there leftover whipped cream?”

“A bit.”

“Want to make use of it?”

“If you want me to dress you up like a proper dessert, I can absolutely do that.”

She wiggled in her seat, the scent of her slick perfuming into the air, sending my own hormones into chaos. I was too full to ravish her quite yet, so I had to switch gears.

“Do you want your present before or after?”

“The dinner isn’t the present?”

“Just part of it. I saw something else and couldn’t help but buy it.”

“Give it to me now before I’m too distracted.”

I hopped out of my seat and went to fetch the wrapped square, presenting it to her with a sheepish smile.

She carefully tore through the wrapping, her face lighting up. “Luca, this is so pretty. I need to see it under proper lighting.”

I flipped on the light above the dining room to reveal the colors on the canvas I had purchased. It was a simple image of a beach at sunset, with the sky painted in her signature shades, the grass adding delicate pops of green over the white sand, and the blue of the water snatching up colors from the sky.

“I’ll hang it up tomorrow,” she promised. “Thank you, I love it. Is this a good time to tell you I got you a present too?”

“Really?” I perked up. She wasn’t a Valentine’s girl, so I hadn’t expected anything at all besides the pleasure of her company.

She nodded. “You don’t get it until next month, though. You can totally say no, but there’s a spring festival out of town I wanted to go to. I already booked the time off and the hotel. I’d like you to come with me, if you want to. It’s also sort of a birthday present too, I guess, since it’s the weekend of yours. Shit, maybe that doesn’t even work. I bet the Marinos are going to want to hog you for that.”

My brain cells tripped over themselves at the realization that Luna had planned us a weekend away. “Absolutely I want to go. Get me the info and I’ll make it happen. I’ll plan birthday stuff around the trip.”

She rewarded me with the brightest smile. “Good. Now I’m going to eat this cake so I’m entirely fueled for sexy shenanigans the rest of the night.”

I set the canvas by the windows so it was out of the way, and threw the wrapping paper in the garbage before flipping off the overhead light again so I could settle in across from her and finish my own piece of cake.
