“No fair Auggie getting all the hot goss before me.”

“I promise I’ll tell you if anything new and exciting pops up,” said Luna. “No more stalling. It’s time to get Luca on the pole so I can appreciate everything Auggie’s been teaching him.”

“Do I have to have a whole audience?” I asked.

“I’ve already seen you do everything,” said Auggie. “Candy and I can leave if you want only Luna to see, though.”

Candy pouted.

“Just for the first one,” I promised. “I’ll get more confident.”

Auggie ushered Candy out of the room and shut the door behind them. I didn’t have my tiny training shorts, but I could hitch up my black boxer briefs and that should work just as well. Luna hit the play button on the remote that controlled the sound for the classroom, a song with a pulsing beat filling the air. It wasn’t one I’d practiced to, but I’d heard it enough that I could follow it. I stripped slowly, keeping my gaze on Luna. Her bottom lip caught between her teeth as I peeled off my shirt, tossed it aside, and followed it with my pants after they had dropped to the floor.

I swallowed my nervousness and started with the simplest spin Auggie had taught me. Easy twists and spins carried the performance, and I added in a pole climb, spinning while hanging from the top. Subtle whiffs of Luna’s perfume filled my nose, and from one spin to the next she was suddenly a lot closer.

“You’re making me want to climb you like that pole.”

I braced myself, back to the pole, to glide down into a squat, spreading my knees before sliding back up the way Auggie had taught me. “Yeah? Far be it for me to dissuade you from that thought.”

“I can’t fuck you in the classroom. Another group’s coming in soon for the final session of the night. But trust me, I’m thinking about it.”

She pressed up against me and I spun the two of us, trapping her against the pole and raising her hands over her head.

“I think you should take me home. You can tie me to my hoop and have your wicked way with me.”

I scooped her up, stealing a kiss that had her melting in my arms. “You want me to ruin you?”

Luna grinned. “If you don’t, I’m going to be very disappointed in you.”

“Guess I’d better show you what I can do then.”

“You’d fucking better.”

“Nervous?” I asked Luna as we drove to pick up Meg to head out to the lake for Nicky’s birthday. It was the ass crack of dawn, but we were both pretty used to odd hours and it was hard to turn down a day in the mountains.

“Only for the fact that Nicky and your parents are going to find out. I can’t imagine Nicky’ll react much differently than Allie, but your parents are a bit of a wild card.”

“They’re going to love you.”

Meg was in the lobby of her apartment when we arrived, and she climbed into the back seat of Luna’s little red sports car. “I might sleep the whole way,” she told us. “I’m not used to being awake this early.”

“Nap all you want,” Luna replied. “It’s a decently long drive, so might as well get some rest while you can.”

The trip wasn’t that different from when Luna and I had gone away; we just diverted south to the lakes instead of north to the hot springs. It was only a couple of hours to the spot that Nicky’s pack had chosen for her surprise party.

I linked my fingers with Luna’s once we hit the highway. She would need both hands once we got onto curvy roads, but for now I could indulge myself.

We were the last to arrive when we finally got there. Nicky and her pack, Allie, and my family were tucked around a campfire with plates of food on their laps. Luna parked on the gravel and we hopped out to deliver birthday hugs and wishes. The pack had gone all out for breakfast and I loaded up a plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, and hash browns, ravenous after the drive and fending off sleep.

I scarfed down most of my food before Nicky asked what the plan was for the day.

“The cabin owner and one of his friends are going to take us out on the boats,” Billie said. “The lake is probably too chilly until the sun really gets hold of it, but we can swim later. No one wants to get hypothermia sneaking in early.”

I glanced over at the still water, the temptation to feel that crispness spurring me on. “That sounds like a challenge.”

“Lulu, don’t you dare jump in the freezing water,” Mom chided.

I shrank in my seat, but Luna came immediately to my rescue.
