Family drama could wait.

He shoved his phone back into his pocket and headed to the edge of the clearing, wanting to soak in the scene. Bridger looking star-struck, Jane smiling, their friends and family gathered around them. Tai had his arm around Tenaya, holding her tight. Mason had never seen his friend so at peace. The big guy was actually beaming.

“Thank you, Jesus,” he prayed. “My friends deserve all the best.”

Bridger had found his forever love. It looked like Tai was well on his way, too. Paige was such a sweetheart, she’d find her soulmate, no question. So would tough, beautiful, uber-competent Kate. Fenn, he had serious doubts about, but the guy had a strong faith. If Fenn paid attention to the signs, he’d do okay. Things with Jason would be a toss-up. The man had a fierce heart, but until he stopped chasing every ghost, well, enough said there.

Not that Mason was an expert on love. More like the complete opposite. Military experience aside, the only thing he excelled at was messing things up. Just like every other Ortiz male in history.

He fingered the phone in his pocket. Whatever prompted his little bro to call, you could be sure it would involve some crazy disaster Mason would have to dig him out of.

No problemo.

If there was one thing he was good at, it was riding to the rescue.
