I peer at him with a curiosity that makes him smile and I say with interest. “Have you worked here long?”

“Two years and I love my job.”

“And Chloe?”

“The same.”

He hands me the champagne glass and I pry a little more. “You must have traveled the world.”

“Yes. It’s an exciting life.”

“It must interfere with your life at home. Where is home?”

I blush and say quickly, “I’m sorry, you don’t have to answer that.”

He grins. “Greece. We all live in Greece, but the family travels a lot, so we are rarely there.”

“The family?”

“Yes. The Constantine family owns this jet. Apollo is one of the sons, and Adonis is his brother. Their father, Dimitri, also travels a lot for business.”

“What about their mom?” I realize I’m prying, but I find this discussion fascinating, and he shakes his head sadly. “She died a few years ago. It was a huge loss.”

“I’m sorry. I understand a lot about losing a parent. I never knew.”

He shrugs. “That doesn’t surprise me. The family is very private.”

I hope I haven’t caused trouble for him and lower my voice. “I’m sorry. I’ve put you in an awkward situation. I won’t let on you told me.”

He shrugs. “They won’t care. It’s no secret.”

I love how open he is, and I’ve learned more in the last few minutes about Apollo and his family than I have in all the time I’ve known the man himself, so I dig a little deeper.

“So, it’s just the three of them.”

He nods. “Yes. They are a tight family. Good employers too.”

“What is their business?”

I’m intrigued, and he looks away. “That is something I can’t speak of, um, Melissa.” He smiles brightly. “Apollo would be the man to tell you.”

I glance around me. “He’s a long time in the restroom.”

Christos says a little too quickly, “He will be back soon.”

He changes the subject. “Allow me to tell you the meal options.”

I listen intently as he reels off a menu that would rival a Michelin star restaurant, and I am blown away. This is decadent living on a scale even I’m not used to. I’m no stranger to it but somehow, this flight, these people and the man I’m with, make everything more colorful, more intense and way more exciting than my own sterile world.

CHAPTER 21

APOLLO

Iwatch Chloe rearrange her uniform and run my fingers through my hair. I fucking needed that.

I note the concern in her eyes and growl, “I’ll be a minute. Go and check if Melissa needs anything.”

She nods and leaves quietly, and I stare around the bedroom with distaste. Fucking Chloe was an act of self-preservation. It always is. She is a release, a means to an end, and she knows it. She accepts it will never be anything else and as she leaves, I am assured of her discretion.
