Reth said, “Next page.”

The glyph for the Horseman was there, running at the hostile blob of Dark Resonance.

She blinked. “So, is this supposed to be a first-meeting picture?”

Reth chuckled. “Yes. From what Jeron told me, that was the point you realized who you were to each other. So, when you have kids, that will be their origin mark with the island profile below it. For you, it will be the centre of your back. For your chest and arms, I will need images from your history.”

“I think I might be able to get that from the Aksallan archive.”

Ysma came out wearing a bodysuit in ocean blue with a glittering finish. Her eyes were distinctly feline in appearance. She kept her mouth shut, but there was a happy gleam in her eyes.

“Is that your normal appearance, Ysma?” Xeva was stunned. She was gorgeous and exotic yet had a very perky and practical aura.

“Yeah. It was how they could tell us apart at the lab when we were separated.” She reached into a pouch and handed the object to Reth. “Here. As promised.”

He took it and blinked. “Wow. I have never seen this much Urtho before.”

Jeron stared. “How do you have so much of that mineral?”

Ysma held out her hand with a larger orb in it. “I can find it. I know where it is, anywhere in the world. I make a note of it and go back to find it later. Consider this Xeva’s dowry. It should keep the shielding running for a few centuries.”

Jeron took the orb and blinked. “Why is it a sphere?”

“Oh, I fidgeted on the flight here. They will be here later today, so I had to get the tattoo done.”

“They are coming for you?”

“Sure. They want me back working with my sister. I do not want to work with my sister, so I am going to give them their shuttle back and begin my own life.”

Xeva stared. “What about your contract?”

Ysma gave her a slow smile and started to laugh.

Jeron murmured, “I don’t think she signed one.”

The laughter subsided. “Your mate is very smart. Correct. I did not sign anything. As Horseman was not aware of my existence, it is likely that no one else knew about it.”

“You aren’t registered in Aksalla?” Xeva’s eyes were wide.

“Nope. Zella wanted to keep my existence quiet.”

Jeron inclined his head. “Would you like to join us for lunch? This sounds fascinating.”

Ysma nodded. “Sure. Are you paying? I don’t actually have any accounts in my name or a com.”

Xeva stared, and the ramifications of her situation hit home. “Where have you been sleeping?”

“In the hills.”

“Oh. Is that safe?”

Jeron said, “Not a bit. There are large predators.”

Ysma grinned. “It is perfectly safe for me.”

Xeva blinked. “Oh. Got it. Right. Well, Reth, are you willing to put my family patterns on me?”

“Sure. Day after tomorrow? We will start at dawn and push through for the day until it’s done if you can handle it.”
