“I love you, too. Sweet dreams.”

“Sweet dreams.”

Bex disconnected the call, turned off the TV, and headed to the bunks.

She found an empty one and climbed in, tossing her duffel bag at her feet and closing the bunk’s curtain for some privacy.

She dimmed the bunk lights and settled in. It was a bottom bunk and she had the steady noise of the tires along the road to lull her to sleep. She plugged her phone into the USB port to charge and drifted off to sleep. Dreams of blue eyes danced in her head.

“Arrrrree yoooooou ready?” she shouted at the crowded theater.

Their roar was massive but still she shouted, “I can’t hear you! Come on, you can do better than that.”

Pleased with the feedback roar, Lovely Oblivion launched into their opening song. Bex sang her heart out to the thousands of fans in the arena.

The second song had a fiddle solo so Bex thankfully took her fiddle from a roadie who had already tuned and rosined it.

Their shows were high energy and went by fast, so before Bex knew it they were playing the last song.

The band took their bows and ran offstage like normal.

High fives all around.

“Yes!” Jade, their drummer, shouted. “Totally rocked the first show.”

They filed into the dressing room and enjoyed the candy and fruit gift baskets.

Before long, their new tour manager, Greg, came in. He kept the tour on schedule, made hotel bookings as needed, and generally made band life go smoothly on tour.

“Hey, ladies. Great first show!”

Enthusiastic calls went up from the band.

“Glad you think so too! We need to get back on the bus for the next stop now. Grab your stuff and let’s head out!” he said.

Begrudgingly, the band piled back onto the bus. An after party would be much more fun.

Bex climbed into her bunk and turned on some music. She closed her curtain and lowered the lights, wanting to be alone.

Soon, the bus pulled out and Bex could hear the tires on the road. Bex didn’t hear anyone else in the bunks so they all must be up front, eating and playing games.

Her phone rang on low, a tone she didn’t recognize at first. Video chat. This was their first time using it.

Aiden’s smile met hers as she answered.

“Hi, Pixie.”

“Hi, Aiden.”

“How was the first show?”

“It went great. Back on the bus now. How was work?”

“About normal. We did stream your show, though. You were fantastic.” He leaned back against his pillow. He must have made it home already.

“Aww thanks.” Bex turned on her side and propped the phone against her pillow, so he could still see but she wouldn’t have to hold it.
