I grin at Ford before I look back at Jackson. “Don’t lie to me.”

He sighs and scrubs a hand over his face. “My father is just… pushing us to hang out with Yasmin this afternoon, go to dinner with her tonight.”

“Oh.” Disappointment and hurt hit me. I know it’s not their choice to spend time with her. Jackson’s dad, the prime alpha of the Werth Pack, is practically binding them together with rope. I can’t even blame him. Yasmin is everything an omega is supposed to be. She presented two years ago at sixteen and has already completed training at The Omega Academy. She is poised, beautiful, accomplished. Basically, everything I am not. She comes from a good pack, better than I could ever hope to be from, even if my parents were still alive. As it is, I live with my beta grandmother in an old, rundown mansion on the outskirts of town. The last remaining piece of my grandfather’s legacy, before he ruined it all, gambled everything away and then drank away the rest..

Ford drops his towel and saunters over to me, looking sexy as hell in his low-slung jeans and nothing else. The mattress sinks as he plants his hands on either side of my hips, leaning in to kiss me. His tongue demands entrance and I grant it with n eager little sigh. The sheet drops as I reach out to curl my fingers around his bare shoulders, eager to get him closer. But he pulls back, brushing his nose along the length of mine, green eyes burning into mine.

“Yasmin is nothing,” he murmurs, tucking a strand of dark brown hair behind my ear. “You know you’re our girl. The only one we need. The only one we want.”

A pleased buzzing fills my chest, almost a purr, but Jackson hasn’t said anything, hasn’t reassured me. Although they technically haven’t formed their pack, everyone knows Jackson will be the prime alpha, their leader, our leader. I look over at him to find him watching us with a pained expression.

“Jackson?” I ask, not able to hide the uncertainty in my voice.

Ford kisses the tip of my nose, then turns to face his friend, hands fisted by his sides. “She needs your reassurance right now, man.”

My face heats in embarrassment. The last thing I want to do is appear needy. I pride myself on being relatively self reliant. And I know that they all want me, all care for me, maybe even love me. But sometimes, when Yasmin Forsyth is involved, I need a little extra reassurance.

Jackson smiles at me, but it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. He shifts until his face is just inches from mine, mouth hovering. He picks up my right hand and presses his thumb over the band on my ring finger, a gentle reminder. A promise they made me almost a year ago. He meets my gaze. “You know we want you, Vee. We have since the first moment we saw you. You’re pack.” His eyes slip closed as he closes the distance between us, while murmuring, “Yasmin is nothing for you to worry about. I love you, baby girl.”

That anxious feeling in my stomach eases as he kisses me, his words soothing me like a balm. If I’d been paying more attention, I would have noticed that when he pulls back, he doesn’t meet my eyes, pushing up from the bed to pull on the rest of his clothes.

The door to our little cabin opens and Davis appears, a paper bag in his hand. He looks like a slimmer version of his brother, though his dark brown hair is longer, flopping over his forehead boyishly. His eyes are closer to blue than gray and, at eighteen, he can’t quite grow a full beard, so his cheeks are clean shaven. But he still makes my heart flip at the very sight of him. They all do.

Ash, the fourth alpha in the pack, slips in silent as a shadow, his black silky black hair sweeping across his pale brow. His dark eyes find me in the center of the bed immediately, scanning over me to make sure I haven’t been injured since he last saw me. Then he does a second pass, more languid, lingering on the skin he can see. His perusal makes my belly grow hot with need.

The last member of our pack, Topher, a beta, brings up the rear. He’s just as handsome as the alphas, though smaller at just over six feet. His light brown hair is longer on the top, and shorter on the sides. His skin is caramel and his eyes milk chocolate. He’s all warm browns that make my mouth water. I want to lick every inch of his skin.

“Oh, man,” Davis pouts when he sees I’m sitting up in the bed big enough for all of us. “I hoped we’d get back before you woke up. We got you breakfast.”

The scent of eggs and cheese and bacon reaches me, and I make a grabby motion at the bag. He grins and all but belly flops onto the bed next to me as I snatch the bag out of his hands. While I dig in, pulling out sandwiches and handing them out, Davis curls around my waist, one of his arms draping over my stomach. He presses a kiss to my bare hip while I take my first bite of the greasy breakfast sandwich, moaning. “So good.”

Ash bends and presses a soft kiss to my lips as he slides a to-go cup of coffee onto the bedside table. I know without tasting it that it’ll be creamy and too sweet. Perfect.

“You can’t make noises like that, Vee. Not when we need to actually do things today.”

I arch a brow at Topher and snap off another bite of my sandwich, making an exaggerated moan as I chew. Five sets of eyes focus on me, burning hot, hot, hot and my body heats in response.

Jackson’s phone vibrates again and the spell breaks.

“Fuck,” Jackson swears. “We have to go.”

My stomach drops and the few bites of breakfast that I’ve eaten turn to lead in my stomach. “I thought we were going to spend the day together.” Jackson doesn’t have many days off. This is the first one in a month, and he promised me we’d spend it at Kilrose Lake, lounging in the sun, eating junk food from the Snack Shack on the shore.

The five of them glance at each other before Davis sits up and leans against my back, pressing a kiss to his love bite on my neck. “I’m sorry, beautiful, but we can’t today. The dads are being pains in our asses. We need to spend the day humoring them.”

Ford nods and tugs on his shirt. “We’ll see you tonight, though. Promise, pipsqueak.”

“We can have a bonfire and s’mores,” Asher says quietly, looping a strand of my hair over my ear, before the tips of his fingers brush the side of my neck.

Topher crawls onto the bed and nuzzles into my hair, inhaling deeply. I do the same to him. Letting his soothing lemon and mint scent wash over me. “We love you, Vee. You know that.”

My heart freaking glows at his words. “I know.” They tell me all the time. They aren’t shy about how they feel about me. It doesn’t make it any easier to be away from them, even with the promise of seeing them in a few hours. “I love you too,” I sigh as my eyes slip closed, hoping the can feel it in my words. “So much.”

I open my eyes and meet each of my alphas’ gazes. “I can’t wait until we get to just be together all the time. Until we’re pack.”

There’s a round of assent, each of them agreeing with me, even if not one of them meets my eyes when they do.

As soon as I walk in the door, my grandmother is there, gray hair perfectly coiffed, dressed in a skirt and matching jacket that is reminiscent of Jackie O. She looks at me with a mixture of disapproval and disgust in her hazel gaze. “You stink,” she says, eying Asher’s sweatshirt. “Tell me you didn’t go too far with them.”
