Page 41 of Knot Here for You

I’ve just finished hauling everything in from my car, and am anxiously eyeing my giant pile of bedding, thinking about where everything needs to go when my phone buzzes with an incoming text.

Sorrel:

You have to stay in the city?

Why? Tell us everything!

Sadie:

Who cares about the why?

I want to know about seeing those assholes again.

I chew on my lower lip as I decide what to tell them. Now that I have my phone in my hand, I can see I drunkenly texted them last night. Mostly raving about how the Werth Pack were domineering bastards and that I wouldn’t survive this.

Me:

Apparently, it’s a condition of my grandmother’s will.

If I want to inherit anything,

I need to stay in town until the house sells.

Which will probably be months, because the place is rough.

Sadie:

Note how she so gracefully avoided my question?

Sorrel:

You can’t really blame her, Sade.

Sadie:

I absolutely can! I need the hot goss!

Did you dick punch them?

Did you make them cry?

Come on, Vee, give me something!

A laugh pulls from my chest as I shake my head at her antics. I love her to the moon and back, but she really is a horrible gossip. Loves to know all the juicy details.

Me:

Fine.

They ambushed me.

All five of them.

At the same fucking time.

They told me everything is my fault and I should have hung around long enough for them to tell me to my face that they didn’t want me.

And then Jackson barked at me to sit down when I tried to leave.
