Page 7 of Calling the Play

Lorna cleared her throat, and her eyes darted away. “Nothing.” Her voice practically squeaked, and I laughed.

“Now why don’t I believe you?” I grasped her hips and dragged her to me before wrapping her up in my embrace.

“She was just being…” Lorna sighed and looked up at the sky.

Slowly, I lowered my head until our mouths were only a breath away, then murmured. “I have ways of making you talk, lass.”

She licked her lips, and her green orbs darkened, sending zings of desire shooting through my body.

With a deep breath, I pushed back my urge to devour her and instead, simply brushed my mouth over hers. Then I crooned, “Tá mé ag fáil bháis a bheith taobh istigh duit.”

“Holy cow,” she breathed. Her hands latched onto my biceps, and her fingers dug into my arms. “You speak Gaelic?”

I grinned and nodded. “I figured if you found my accent sexy…”

Lorna swallowed and licked her lips, leaving a shiny trail that had me holding back a groan. “Um, yeah…it’s…I like it.”

“Enough to tell me what Ivy said?” I grinned, and she giggled.

“Nice try.” Then she peered up at me curiously. “What did you say to me?”

“Nuh-uh,” I tsked. “Tit for tat.”

Lorna blushed again, and I pressed my forehead to hers as I chuckled. “That sounded dirtier than I meant it. But if the way you blushed at whatever Ivy said is any indication, it might have been more appropriate than I realized.”

“Did you say something dirty?” She actually sounded eager, and when I pulled back to look at her, her expression matched her tone.

“Hmm, it seems my lass has a bit of a filthy mind.” I grinned so she’d know I was more than okay with the statement.

She turned pink but returned my smile. “I never have before.”

“So I bring it out in you?” I mused. “You just become more and more perfect every moment I spend with you.”

Lorna bit her lip, then broke out into a pleased smile. “As long as you’re okay with it.”

“Oh, baby,” I grunted, yanking her body tight against mine so she could feel exactly how much I liked it. “I love it.”

Her sexy mouth formed a little O, making me think about how fucking amazing her lips would look wrapped around my cock. Fucking hell, I needed to let her go before I shoved her in the car and fucked her brains out.

“Have dinner with me tomorrow,” I requested with the crooked smile that she seemed to like.

“Okay,” she agreed, beaming at me.

I bent my head and pressed my lips to hers, retreating seconds before I gave in and really kissed her. “I’ll pick you up at six,” I grunted.

Reluctantly, I dropped my arms and took a step back. She looked so crestfallen that my heart couldn’t take it, and I grabbed her hand, tugging her back into my arms and sealing my mouth over hers.

She let out a little moan, and it tossed kindling onto the fire building inside me. I traced her lips with the tip of my tongue, and when they parted, I immediately entered. Sweet honey. The taste filled my senses, and I was suddenly ravenous. I cupped her face and angled her head to deepen the kiss.

By the time we managed to tear our mouths away, we were both panting, our hearts racing. Lorna’s arms were locked around my torso, and she laid her head on my chest as she attempted to calm. I rested my chin on her crown and wrapped myself around her.

Eventually, I found the strength to separate from her, though I kept one of her hands clasped tightly in my own. I walked her to her door and kissed her forehead. “Good night, lass.”

“Good night, Cole.”

The sound of my name in her smooth voice rekindled the fire, and I had to untangle our fingers before I lost all self-control.

She turned and walked up the four steps to the heavy green door that led into the bright red-brick building.
