When she was gone, JJ prowled towards me, and I remained frozen in place. My mouth was dry, and my heart was hammering. I was used to order in my life, and now, nothing was going to plan.

“Dr. Wilder. What a surprise. I hear you brought me coffee.” He lifted the cup from my unresisting grip, took a sip, and then pulled a face. “Ugh. What is that?”

“Americano. No milk.”

“Next time, bring me something sweeter, please. Preferably with syrup.” His humour dying away, he studied me from beneath his lashes. “I know you didn’t come to bring me coffee. The last time we spoke, I kind of got the impression that you’d rather not run into me again. What are you really doing here?”

I shook my head, at a loss. I had no explanation, so I told him the truth. “I don’t know, Joshua. At a minimum, I should apologise for my behaviour in my office.”

Surprise flashed in his gaze. “Joshua. No one calls me that, apart from G. And even then, it doesn’t happen often. Usually when I’ve misbehaved. I accept your apology, by the way.”

A weight I hadn’t known I was holding lifted. “G?” Raising a brow, I held out my hand. “I suppose I should introduce myself. Dr. Killian Wilder.”

That gorgeous smile curved over his lips, thawing an infinitesimal portion of the permafrost around my heart. “G is my grandma. Nice to officially meet you, Killian. It’s a surprise and very much a pleasure. How did you find me?”

“Anyone can see the timetables if they log in to the portal.”

“They can if they know the course I’m doing, which I don’t remember telling you.”

I closed the distance between us, lowering my head. The urge to kiss those plump, pink lips was so strong that I could barely restrain myself from taking what I wanted until I was sated and this madness left me. Somehow, I resisted. “I have my ways.”

“You know, I don’t think I’ve ever had a stalker before.” He placed a hand on my chest, sliding it up to the hollow of my throat, making my heart rate increase beneath his touch. “Especially not one as delicious as you.”

“Delicious?”

“Mmm. Very.” The low, sultry tone of his voice had my cock responding almost instantly. Rising onto the balls of his feet, he leaned right in, his lips almost brushing mine. “Are you here to tell me you’ve changed your mind? You want a repeat of the night in the club? Because I’d be verrry interested if so.”

At his words, something ignited between us. A hot spark, setting my nerve endings alight.

All my objections went out of the window.

“Yes,” I growled, my self-control fraying and snapping as I closed the distance between us, our lips connecting. He tasted just as sweet as I remembered but with a hint of the bitterness of my coffee. Fuck. I couldn’t get enough. I wanted to deepen the kiss, to stroke my tongue against his, to taste, and taste, and taste.

“Not here.” Tearing his mouth away from mine after only a second or two, he stared around us, wild-eyed. “Fuck. What was I thinking? What am I doing? This is the second time I’ve lost my mind around you. Alyssa and Leo will be here any second. Fuck. Look what you did.” I followed his gaze downwards to see the outline of a gorgeous but rather prominent erection, and with the dance tights he was wearing, there was no chance of hiding it. My own rapidly hardening erection was almost as obvious, but thankfully, I was wearing a light wool overcoat, buttoned up, that easily hid the evidence.

He tipped his head back with a groan, raking a hand through his hair.

“Fucking gorgeous,” I murmured, my cock throbbing as I took in his arousal. I hadn’t become aroused this quickly in a long time. Not since the club, and before that…it had been even longer. Much longer. Not only that, but I couldn’t remember ever being so sexually attracted to someone in my life. This wasn’t me. I didn’t do things like this, ever.

He glanced back up at me, heat in his gaze. “There’s the man I remember from the club. Not…whoever that was in the office. You’re?—”

Cutting himself off, his mouth snapped shut as the door opened and his friends entered the studio. When he dropped into a crouch, I moved swiftly towards them, directing their attention towards me to allow him time to compose himself. Something inside me knew exactly what to do. It was a natural instinct to protect him. To make sure his vulnerabilities weren’t exposed.

“Alyssa, and…Leo, was it? I’m Killian. It’s a pleasure to meet you both. You’re Josh—JJ’s colleagues?”

Leo shifted from foot to foot, staring down at the floor, but Alyssa beamed at me. “Yep! We’re JJ’s dance partners for the showcase. We’re doing a group dance together. Want to watch us practise?”

“If that would be acceptable. Where should I stand?” As long as their attention remained on me while JJ was composing himself, everything would be okay.

Leo finally lifted his gaze from the floor, eyeing me warily. “Y-you’re…you’re…” he began, his cheeks flushing. “Never mind,” he whispered, spinning away and running towards the corner of the room where an iPad was set on a dock on the floor.

“Don’t worry about him. He’s super shy. Performing in front of people is hard for him. Having you here will be a good test, actually.” Alyssa gave me another bright smile. “Sit or stand anywhere. The back wall is good. You can see us from the back and the front that way because you’ll be facing the mirror. We’ll go through a few warm-up stretches—or I will since the others have already been dancing, and then we’ll do a run-through of the routine so far before we start breaking it down.”

Music began playing from the wall-mounted speakers, and Leo straightened up, glancing over at us, his cheeks still flushed, before his gaze darted away again. I studied him. Something about him looked familiar, which meant that it was highly likely that he’d either been in one of my classes or had classes in the same building I taught in. Neither option was good, but there was nothing I could do now he’d seen me.

As Alyssa began her warm-up, I quickly strode to the back of the room to create as much distance between myself and JJ as possible. When I had a solid surface behind me, I fixed my gaze back on JJ. He went through the same warm-up moves as Alyssa, and then Leo joined them after some coaxing from JJ, the three of them stretching and contorting their bodies.

There were three, but I only had eyes for one person.
