This is it for me.

I’m all fucking in, and I want to make sure she feels the same. I’m scared she isn’t ready for this, and if she isn’t, I need to deal with it. If we cross that line, there’s no going back for me. I can already feel that truth down to the marrow of my bones.

“Then why do you look so serious?” she asks.

“Because I’m not sure if you feel the same way I do,” I say as I gently place her on the soft hotel mattress. Her body sinks into the bright white plush comforter, her raven hair fanning out around us as she lies back.

“How do you feel?” she asks with a half grin on her face.

She’s trying to act like she isn’t nervous, but she hasn’t stopped spinning that ring on her finger. It’s a dead giveaway.

“Don’t be nervous, cupcake.”

“I don’t think I can do that. This feels big, and I don’t know what you’re about to say.”

“Yes, you do, baby.”

I reach out and grab her hand, stilling it with mine. She says nothing for a long moment. She just stares into my eyes as I try to convey with every fiber of my being that I want her. That I need her.

She finally breaks the intense moment. Clearing her throat, she asks again, “How do you feel, SJ?”

“Like I’m the stupidest man alive.”

A surprised, disbelieving laugh passes her lips. “You aren’t.”

Before she even finishes those two words, I nod. “Yes, I am. You know why?” She shakes hers, waiting for me to answer. “Because I didn’t see what was right in front of me this whole time. I didn’t see how it could work. I couldn’t let myself believe maybe you felt the same way.”

Her eyes water, but she doesn’t let the moisture fall. “And what’s in front of you?”

Simple. “You and me.”

The breathtakingly beautiful, talented, smart, and sassy Nora Reyes, who is hopefully mine, whimpers.

“You don’t say?” she sasses.

The grin that splits my face only encourages her. She reaches up and runs her hands along my shaved head, her touch leaving chills in their wake.

“I do. What do you think about that?” I ask.

I’m not nervous anymore. Her body language tells me her answer before it ever forms on her lips. The way her body curves against mine and the fact that she hasn’t stopped touching me in some way since I kissed her.

But I wait to hear it from her lips.

“I think…” She pretends to ponder for a moment before continuing. “I think I like this idea of you and me.”

“How much?”

“Too much,” she whispers.

“Me, too,” I whisper in reply.

Chapter 33

Nora

Ohmygawd I think as my lips crash against his. His words open a floodgate of emotions and sensations. I feel like I’m practically floating with pure happiness and then an all-powerful desire takes root.

SJ slowly disarmed my defenses, day by day, with his genuine smile, his good nature, and his bigger than life presence. His dedication, rich laugh, and his big heart stole my heart.
