“The thing is, his family makes these. He’s a chocolatier, that was another thing I asked the lamp for, fine Belgian chocolates, and it heard me. This is divine, and some of the best I’ve ever tasted.” She walked around the counter and gave Stella a hug.

“Thanks for the advice. Iwill sleep on it tonight and make my decision in the morning. Just know thatI’m tempted, so tempted, and I don’t know why I’m stalling. Guess I’m afraid, truth be told.” Stella kissed her on the cheek and moved to the door.

“I’ll let you go love, but I think I know what you’ll decide, but I’ll give you and the boy time to talk it over. Thanks for calling me and trusting me with your fears. You know I love you both, and I’ll always support you in whatever you choose.” Lacey smiled and wiped a tear away.

“I love you too, Stella, and thank you. I’ll call tomorrow night and let you know how it went.” Stella nodded and slipped out, the door closing behind her. Lacey walked over and poured herself a glass of wine and sat beside Philippe. She watched him for a few minutes as she drank. He grinned at her, then resumed watching the cartoon as she rubbed his shoulder.

“Tomorrow willbe big. Our lives could change forever, I can feel it in my heart. I can never go back to hiding that part of me beneath a bushel, I’ve got to think ofour future. That, and I like him so much. I don’t know, maybe sleep will clear my mind.” She kissed Philippe, pointed at her watch and saw his shoulders droop in defeat.

“Bed time, buster, let’s go. You’ve got school tomorrow.” He turned off the TV and moved sluggishly, dragging his feet as he moved towards his room. He came back and wrapped his arms around her waist. Grabbing his paper, jotted something down and handed it to her with a smile.

“I like him, you like him, we should go.” She felt the tears rise in her eyes and she nodded at him.

“I know, me too, we’ll see. Now off to bed. I’ll see you in the morning.” She kissed him and he walked down the hallway to his room. She turned off the lights, locked the doors, then went to her room, fearing that sleep would be elusive.
