He wasn’t wrong. The scent was wafting up the stairs, and my stomach was rumbling.

I grabbed his hand, letting him pull me off the bed. He kissed my cheek before pulling me out of the room, Ezra hot on our heels. When we walked into the living room, Logan pulled me down on his lap. Ezra slid onto the couch beside us, his shoulder smashed against Logan’s.

“What movie are we watching?” Dad asked as he handed us plates with two slices a piece on them.

“Something funny,” Logan said. “I’ve had enough of serious shit for the day.”

Dad grabbed the remote and turned on Tangled. I blushed all the way to the roots of my hair. “Dad,” I hissed.

Logan smirked. “I haven’t seen this. You like princesses, pretty boy?”

I groaned. “They make me happy,” I muttered, staring at my pizza like it’d personally offended me. “And this movie is funny.”

Ezra leaned in, skimming his nose along my cheek. “You can be my princess, baby,” he whispered in my ear.

I choked on the bite of food I’d just managed to swallow, and Logan barked out a laugh, smacking my back. I choked the food back up, my entire body colored red with embarrassment. Ezra just winked at me and settled in to watch the movie.

Dad shook his head and focused on the TV. “I don’t even want to know.”

No, he most certainly did not.

CHAPTER 30

Spencer

ONE WEEK LATER

Logan frowned at the school doors, looking as if he wanted to turn right back around and go home. I couldn’t blame him. People had been speculating on his whereabouts for a while now. Some people even had the audacity to outright ask me and Ezra if we’d somehow driven him away from school.

Ezra hadn’t taken well to that, and it was only because I got between him and the other guy that Ezra didn’t end up expelled for fighting again.

“Fuck, I don’t want to come back here,” Logan grunted. “Why couldn’t your dad just let me get my GED or some shit?”

Since Logan had been out of the hospital, he’d been keeping up with schoolwork and assignments at home with me tutoring him when he needed help. But Dad finally put his foot down and said he needed to get back to doing normal things. He’d been out of school for a month now as it was.

I shrugged. “Because Dad cares about you,” I told him honestly. “And he knows you can graduate.” I grabbed his hand in mine, linking our fingers together. “Come on.”

Ezra grabbed my other hand, and the three of us walked through the doors. People stared; the whispers immediately started. But at least the idea that Ezra or I had driven Logan away would finally disappear.

“People talk too fucking much,” Logan said, shooting a pointed look at one girl who thought she had discreetly pointed at us. She flinched and quickly looked away, dropping her hand. I snickered.

“You make people afraid with just a look.”

Ezra chuckled. “He looks like a goth king.”

Logan’s lips twitched with the beginnings of a smirk. “Goth king, huh? I like it. It has a little ring to it.”

They dropped me at my locker, where Shelby was already waiting for me. Logan gently squeezed my hand before dropping it. Ezra backed me against the lockers and pressed every inch of the front of his body against mine. I swallowed thickly, flicking my eyes up to meet his.

“I’ll see you at lunch,” he murmured. Then, he leaned down and kissed me. I swallowed back a moan, my hands grasping at his waist as he parted my lips and licked into my mouth.

I pouted at him when he backed away, and he grinned, lifting a hand to rub the pad of his thumb over my lower lip. “See you later, baby.”

He grabbed Logan’s hand in his, and the two of them headed to their lockers. Shelby frowned. “Logan still not all that comfortable with kissing?”

I shrugged. “It comes and goes,” I told her honestly. “I think today is already enough for him—coming back to school and all. Kissing might send him spiraling.”

She nodded in understanding as I opened my locker and grabbed out my things. “I know I give him a lot of shit, but I have been worried about him, Spence.”
