I unwrap the paper and pull out my burger. The grease sticks to it, leaving an oily disgusting stain behind. My stomach revolts at the thought of eating yet another take-out meal. I throw it back on the paper. Luca stares at me, pausing mid-chew.

Every day since I have been here, I have not had any real food. Even the salad Hammer brought me for lunch yesterday tasted old and greasy. I hold my bloated stomach, feeling sick.

“What’s the matter?” Line’s crease across his forehead.

“I can’t eat another take-out meal.”

He snickers, swallowing back a mouthful of his burger. “This isn’t a Four Seasons Resort. You get what you're given.”

“You have a kitchen. Don’t you ever cook? I’d kill for something healthy and fresh right now!” I realized the irony in what I just said, but it didn't seem to register with Luca.

“Do I look like someone that cooks?”

“If you had any food in this dungeon you call home, you could. I am sure if you're capable of cutting someone's throat, you could cut a vegetable.”

He sighs, rubbing a hand over his face. “You’re fucking exhausting, red. Just eat your food and be grateful I am feeding you at all!”

“If you get some supplies, I’d be happy to cook for myself.” I can't help the excitement that I feel at the thought.

He glares up at me with sheer annoyance. “Will you stop whining if I say yes?”

“I will try my best.” I grin.

Shaking his head, he sighs. “Write a list, and I’ll give it to Joe.”

“Thank you,” I say politely.

Luca looks over at me with a look of disbelief and confusion. “Did you thank me?”

Looking back at him with my own bemusement, I frown. “I was using my manners.”

“Didn’t know you had any.”

“Oh, you're a real comedian,” I reply. “So can I have some paper and a pen?”

He cocks a brow.

“You know, so that I can write a list.”

Taking another bite from his burger, he ignores my questions but continues to look at me expectantly.

“Please,” I quickly add.

“I see your learning.”

I shake my head, letting out a frustrated breath as he gets up from the table, returning with a notepad and pen but pauses before passing them to me. “I want the pen back when you're done.”

Glaring at him, I take the pen and paper. “What? Do you think I am going to stab you in your sleep with it?”

He doesn’t answer, just stares at me with warning. He watches me as I start to write my list out but eventually grows tired of it and yawns. “I need some shut-eye. Give the list and the pen back to Joe when you're done.” He starts to walk away towards the hallway then stops. “Oh, and, red.” He turns around, his eyes wandering across the tornado that hit his apartment. “Clean this mess up.”

“Why?” I smile at him. “You don’t like the changes I made?” I put my hand over my chest, acting all offended.

“If I can’t trust you to be alone, I can always get Joe to keep you company.” Images of Joe this morning fucking me with his eyes as he brought me my breakfast flash through my mind. I inwardly shiver. Judging by the sarcastic smile on Luca’s face, he can tell I am not keen on that idea.

“Didn’t think so.” He turns and walks away.
