“Yes! I’m almost there!” Nox could hear a harp calling to him and laughed, but it turned into a startled yelp. “Wait!” He threw an arm around Nelson’s neck as he was raised up and off.

Nelson’s chest heaved and his breaths thundered in Nox’s ear as he was held tight.

“Not yet,” Nelson huffed, his fingers digging into Nox’s hip and back. “I need just a moment.” He took a slow, cleansing breath, then lifted Nox back up and onto his cock, filling him to the hilt in one smooth slide.

“Oh, thank you!” Nox’s eyes crossed in relief and he almost swallowed his tongue as Nelson’s hands cupped his ass and helped him bounce swift and hard. “Just like that!” He reached, straining toward ecstasy as the colors and lights and the ethereal music grew more beautiful. His nerves flared brighter and brighter with each grinding stroke against Nox’s prostate, propelling them just a little bit closer to heavenly bliss.

“What do you see?”

Nox could make out the glittering, peaceful nebula through the radiant haze surrounding them. “The lights of all souls. We’re almost there and He can see us.”

“Grrrfffffuck!” Nelson pushed Nox off and he landed on the bed in a startled heap. “Hold on!” Nelson said hoarsely and he scrambled up and behind Nox. “Just a moment,” he begged, leaving breathless kisses on Nox’s shoulders and the back of his neck. “What else can you teach me?” he whispered roughly as he straightened and pulled Nox upright. His hand locked around Nox's hip as Nelson thrust deep, impaling him so his knees came off the bed.

“Gods!” Nox screamed at the strobing of his nerves and the heat building in his core.

But Nelson held him there, suspended and burning, a fist tight around Nox’s throbbing erection. “Hang on and tell me, Nox.”

The hand around Nox’s shaft tugged and he fought to keep his eyes open as he was swept back up into heavenly joy and heady pleasure spilled through his core. He heard the delicate strumming of a harp, buzzing bees, and his father humming an old Irish lullaby from his childhood. “I hear Him, Nelson! Athair Ionúin! He’s calling us to Him!”

“Don’t let go!” Nelson shouted as the hand around Nox’s length stroked slick and swift, hurling him into the sun.

“Athair Ionúin!” Nox reached for the light as he imploded and cum burst from his cock. But he felt Nelson pull away just as his father’s face came to him. “No!” Nox cried, flailing to grab hold as he fell.

“Du thabairt dorais du glé, for mu muid céin am messe,” Nelson whispered, the sacred spell wrapping Nox in its loving embrace and calling him back.

“No! Wait!” Nox begged but the light was fading fast around them.

Nelson cradled Nox, smoothing the hair from his face and covering it in whispers and kisses. “Shhh! Du thabairt dorais du glé, for mu muid céin am messe.”

“My brave, beautiful Uaithne,” Nox mumbled, safe in his sacred mate’s arms.

“Yes. That’s me.” Nelson pressed a hard kiss to Nox’s lips before wrenching himself free. “Be right back. Don’t move,” he said as he rolled from the bed and ran for the bathroom, slamming the doors shut behind him.

“Why…didjou…?” Nox blinked and batted at the colorful sparks and swirls, disoriented until he heard the shower and Nelson’s shredded moan. A wave of seductive heat curled under the doors, beckoning Nox. “Wait!” he cried when he realized what Nelson was doing. Nox tumbled out of the bed, tripping and crashing into the doors. “Let me in!” Nox begged as he pawed at the handles with limp clumsy hands.

“No!”

“Please! Take me with you!” Nox slid to the floor, whimpering as the heat in the bathroom faded and the water was turned off. “I want to go. I want my father,” he pouted and yawned loudly as he sank, giving into his exhaustion while the edges of his consciousness curled in on itself and he found a different dark peace.

Twenty-One

The inky peace turned into a sleeping bag and the smell of a campfire that had been doused hours earlier. Nox heard a rustling a few feet away and the sound of another bag unzipping. He cracked an eye and the other snapped open when Nox’s father sat up and quietly pulled on his hiking books.

Nox remained still, holding his breath as Lucas rose and crept around the fire. There was a strangled yell when Lucas tripped and Nox saw the tiny ball of light that illuminated the ground at his father’s feet.

He opened his mouth to call after Lucas, but Nox paused when he realized they were alone.

One was never truly alone in nature but there were no wild ears in this dream forest to hear their secrets and no breeze to whisper them to the night.

Nox was alone with his thoughts as well. There was no voice in his head, sharing ideas and tampering with his memories.

“You’re awake,” Lucas said when he returned. It wasn’t an observation and Lucas wasn’t surprised as he stepped over his rucksack and went to his mat. He was telling Nox. Telling him to get up.

Nox rose on an elbow, confused by the tattoos and the size of his arms and hands. “I was…eight,” he said as he scooted out of the bag and pulled his knees up to his chest.

“You’re a man now.” Lucas smiled tenderly at Nox from the other side of the cold campfire. “Go ahead,” he said, gesturing at the stack of charred logs.

“If you want…” Nox raised his hand to them, calling forth the heat of the last flame he’d touched until his fingers began to burn. He pushed the burning sting at the logs and a large flame leaped from his hand, igniting them.
