Olivia read it a second time,and then a third.
The bubbling of hope in her chest turned to an eruption, and her mind began to race.
Could this program make two of her dreams come true at once?
Long before she dreamed of babies and a husband, teenaged Olivia Sinclair fell madly in love with computers.
It started as a love of playing video games that she shared with her father, and blossomed the day the two of them began upgrading their cheap system with used parts they bought from the local prefecture auction.
Soon, Olivia was messing around online, learning not just to build her own system, but how to fix the ones at school, and eventually how to hack into others.

Along with the rest of the team, she set to work demonstrating protocol breaches and possible solutions for them to small companies, earning tips that she used to upgrade her own machines.
Her dreams at the time were all centered around finding work with an intergalactic bank, preventing heists and white-collar crime.
Then she read about the AI on Cosmax-9 and his quick rise to fame and even quicker disappearance.
The AI had been built for design work and his early projects were just that - a nicely designed spa and a couple of retail shops with better sales than their competitors due to clever adjustments in layout. His maker had hoped he might design highways or air travelroutes one day. As was customary, the AI was leased out to design projects that were implemented by lesser computers.
The breakthrough was a zoo project on Jani-Finn-12.
The AI was leased to the zoo to design a habitat for endangered hurleyquarz birds. The notoriously choosy birds were a few years from extinction due to their disinclination to mate.
However, in their new home, the birds immediately produced a clutch of perfect eggs which resulted in a crew of rowdy hatchlings that delighted zoo guests and left their keepers astonished.
It turned out the AI had gone beyond his expected protocols, networking privately with historians outside the sector to obtain and study ancient texts that included descriptions of the mating rituals of the birds.
No sooner did this information come to light than the Cosmax-9 AI was sold outright. His price was far higher than any past AI sales, and the buyer was located in Maltaffia.
Beyond that information, nothing else was shared publicly, and nothing more could be found, in spite of all Olivia’s efforts.
She strongly suspected the AI had assisted its new owner in ensuring that no clue was left behind of its current whereabouts.
Given its success with the hurleyquarz breeding program, Olivia had searched rare animal breeding programs in every sector, not just Maltaffia, thinking the person who would pay the most might want to save or restore some ancient creature.
But she never found a trace.
Until now.
This AI Assisted Surrogacy claimed a higher success rate than any other on record.

And if Olivia could swing it, she was going to visit the center herself and meet the Cosmax-9 AI in person.
She had been working on a special project of her own for years, tinkering with it and pouring all the love she would have given to a baby and husband into her design.
