She shrugged. “I siphoned off mine and Olivia’s accounts. Once I did that, I moved the money offshore, and from there, it was easy to access the money when I needed it.”

Kyle shook her head. “No way—I looked for you everywhere and there are no accounts, offshore or otherwise, for you.”

“Did you think I’d use my own name?”

“What did you use? I’d like to verify your story,” Kyle pressed.

“Too bad for you. I’m not giving you a damn thing,” Ava responded harshly.

“When you left Minneapolis, you hit up Seattle. From there I tracked you to Austin. I lost you there a year ago,” Kyle stated.

“I was never in Seattle. Or Austin, for that matter.”

“I had you on CCTV.”

“Impossible,” Ava said. “I’m telling you I was never in Seattle or Austin.”

“How did you evade me?”

“Luck?” Ava asked, sarcasm heavy in her tone.

Kyle scoffed. “I guess it ran out in Atlanta.”

Holland cleared his throat. “I didn’t notice any money missing from Olivia’s accounts.”

“I find it hard to believe Olivia told you about our accounts.”

“Olivia told me everything.”

Ava shook her head. “I hate to tell you this but she didn’t. We each had an account that we hid from everyone. We played the stock market, and all the money we made from that we put into our secret accounts.”

“Why?”

“For shits and giggles. Now I’m thankful Olivia was so good at the market.”

Holland nodded. “She was one smart woman.”

“That she was,” Ava intoned.

“Are those accounts safe?” Cap asked, stepping into the conversation.

“Yes,” Ava answered.

Scope stood up and stretched. “Well, I’m glad you had the money to run and be safe,” he said. “Thanks for getting the food, Kyle. I’m going to get some shut-eye.”

Holland stood up too and motioned to Kyle. “I’m not finished eating,” she complained.

“Yeah, you are,” Holland told her. “And I want to see those tapes you have of Ava where she said she never was.”

Kyle got up and then she, Holland and Scope disappeared into the elevator.

“They must have apartments on the floors below us,” she said to Cap.

“Holland is on the first floor. Kyle and Scope are on the third. We’re on the fifth.”

“You didn’t have another apartment I could stay in?”

He shook his head slowly. “Nope.”
