Epilogue

Jax

One year later

Winnie, Willa, and Wren sit on a boulder next to the hidden hot spring on the property. They each extend a hand, beckoning me to join them like three Sirens luring a sailor to his doom.

I take in their matching swimsuits and swim caps. They each hold a hand over their jaw so I can’t tell which one has the scar. But I don’t need to see Winnie’s scar to identify her. She stands out to me, even when she’s flanked by her identical sisters. They’re all objectively gorgeous women, but Winnie is the only one that my body calls out for.

“You three are unbelievable,” I say, shaking my head. “I thought this Triplet Triple Threat Test would stop after Winnie and I were married.”

“It’s too much fun,” the sister on the left says. While I can immediately spot which woman is my beloved wife, I can never tell Willa and Wren apart.

“Who is your wife?” Winnie’s eyes sparkle with amusement, and I grin at her.

“You are, of course.”

The sisters all laugh with delight. Willa and Wren wade into the hot spring. “Are you guys coming?” one of them calls to us.

I shake my head. “Not me. I made a promise to my wife.”

Winnie grabs my hand and tugs me gently toward the water. “It’s okay, Jax. I know you love me. And the spring is so nice and warm.”

I lean forward to whisper in her ear. “I can think of another place that’s nice and warm—and oh, so tight—that I’d rather be.”

She laughs, but calls over her shoulder to her sisters, “Jax and I are going back to the house.”

We hold hands as we walk, and I marvel at how much I love her. Even in the ridiculous swim cap, she’s breathtaking.

“Cute swim cap,” I tell her, bumping her hip with mine.

She smiles mischievously. “Should I wear it to bed?”

“No, thanks,” I say with a laugh. “Seriously, though, are you guys going to keep testing me forever? I don’t mind… but it’s a waste of time for the three of you. I’m always going to win.”

She turns to me, and her face glows with happiness. “Well, actually, you’ll get a break from the testing for a while.”

“Really? Why?”

She rests a hand on her stomach. “In a couple of months, my body is going to look a lot different than Willa’s and Wren’s.”

“You mean… we’re…” My heart swells with more love than I ever thought imaginable.

She nods. “We’re having a baby.”

I laugh, lifting her into my arms and spinning in a circle. Woof comes bounding over on his three legs to see what the excitement is all about. “You hear that, Woof? You’re going to have another human to protect.”
